Antique Tabletop Wood Coffee Grinder Dovetail Joints Dated 1893 Black Iron Trim
This item is an antique tabletop coffee grinder. And is in fantastic condition even if it is 119 years old! The box is made using dovetail construction of the joints, which was used primarily from 1860s through the 1890s. The grinder handle and carrying or lifting handle on the back are iron painted black. The knob on the handle, I believe, is rosewood. All parts are present and it works. The one small issue is that there is one very tiny nail missing from the metal rim which the lid screws down onto. This measures 7.5" tall and 5.5" wide. This item is unique.on the backside of the door which closes to cover the'ground coffee' compartment, is writing by whoever owned this grinder in 1893. I've taken pictures of this, but the writing are of the words"December 1893" This is written again below the first line. ... moreThe third line says December 23, 1893. And, a fourth line says December 25, 1893. I'm assuming it may have been a Christmas gift? Why the same words are written several times, I don't know.but it gives this grinder some history and life. Neat early c.1880's cast iron crank arm with turned handle. Arm has a nice curve. And structural as well as decorative design, end of arm fits over a tapered square shaft(tapered from 1/2" at tip to 5/8" at base) there is no thumb scerw or other type of tightener, no idea what it was from, but nicely made, wooden handle in great original condition. Antique Vintage Ornate Black Cast Iron & Wood Coffee Grinder Mill
I found this grinder at an estate sale in Red Lodge. Montana and it is an oldie but goodie. The top is very ornate and the wood has aged to a nice, gnarly patina. It is solid and sturdy and measures 7" square at the top and the knob is about 10" high. It has quality dovetailing and construction.

I have cleaned it nicely but was careful about using water as to swell the wood. After cleaning. I oiled the piece. This piece measures about 7 inches tall and 3.5 inches base diameter. There are no breaks, cracks or repairs. There are a couple very minor nicks on the outside rim of the base.they could not photograph easily. They are so small. Up for auction is a great vintage Dansk teak wooden salt and pepper mill with a Peugeot grinding mechanism. Wonderful Danish design featuring a top circle loop that turns to grind the peppercorns. Stacked design has a salt shaker on the top section with the peppermill on the bottom. The wooden knobs on one side remove to fill the compartments. The bottom is marked Dansk Designs. Please see the photographs for the best visual description. The peppermill is in remarkably good condition with normal signs of use consistent with age. THIS IS A VINTAGE APPROX 1960'S COFFEE GRINDER TABLE LAMP The coffee grinder portion is just for show and is not operable. It is tall measuring 27-1/4" 2 feet 3-1/4inches) from the bottom to the finial. It is made of real wood; brass looking metal. And glass, there are even real coffee beans inside the lamp! the handle does not turn and the drawer does not open It is a very charming piece. The wood is in excellent condition considering its age. there are some very small unnoticeable scratches to be expected with the time of it's production but those can be polished. This is a really neat piece. the tall ones are harder to find. Dovetailed corners on all four sides. Ornate"scrolling" to the iron. Original wooden knob and catch drawer. Original iron knob to the catch drawer. The"guts" are still intact. Wonderful big iron handle to the side. The wooden box itself(NOT counting the handle) is 7" tall. WITH the handle it is 12" tall.
