VERY UNUSUAL* OLD ANTIQUE VTG Ca 1870's BRASS IRON& WOOD ELECTRICAL X-RAY FILAMENT TRANSFORMER DEVICE INSTRUMENT This offering is for an unusual. To me at least, device that I am told is an X-Ray Filament Transformer. The device has an iron box held on with 18 screws, a brass top and a wooden spire at the center having two electrical connectors on it. One end of the top has four electric connectors and two brass tags. One tag reads'CONTROL" and the other tag reads"LINE" On one corner of the top is a hexagonal fitting with a hole in the center. The overall height to the top of the"spire" is app. 14½" the top measures app. 9 3/4" by 10½" the box below measures app. 9 3/4" by 9½" and it's very heavy weighing in at 25 pounds. I have no idea what the device does, ... morewhat it does not do, or if it works or not. My guess is that it will need at least some work to put it in operational order but that's really only a guess. If anyone actually knows what the heck this thing is I would love to know. As it sits it displays wonderfully with a sort of Frankenstein stylish appeal. The device displays great and will make an excellent addition to someone's collection, shouldn't it be yours! This fine example of early kitchen appliances actually works.heats really fast and really hot! The heat element inside it is made of mica. The Art Deco design appears to be nickel or chrome plating over the steel body of this piece. You must decide which, because I don't know for sure. The finish is very shiny, with a few edge scrapes and some leftover kitchen grease(possibly removable with more elbow grease) and the two wooden handles at the ends have lost most of their original jadeite green paint. The handles on the flop down sides are made of leather, attached with brass rivets. The original cord is in excellent condition, no frays or problems, cloth covered, black with red accent threads. Reproduction of March 1880 Edison Engineering Blueprint- Photometric Properties of Carbon Filament As soon as Thomas Edison had a successful incandescent electric bulb in December of 1879 and early 1880. Much of the electrical engineering establishment worldwide started calling into question his accomplishment and labeling him an upstart and an amateur. They underestimated him. Edison had put together a research and development team of great talent. As an example of the rigorous and systematic way Edison went about designing incandescent electric lighting, I offer here an excellent 12" x 15-3/4" reproduction of a blueprint from Edison's laboratory dated March 1880(first two photos) The blueprint shows in an elegant way the photometric behavior(illumination characteristics) of the horseshoe carbon filament of early 1880. OLD CHRISTMAS LIGHTS* 7 Working C-6 Exhaust Tipped Carbon Filament Christmas Lamps 14 Volt- Japan + Old String NEXT DAY SHIPPING AFTER PAYMENT IS RECEIVED THIS COMES FROM A SMOKE-FREE HOME DESCRIPTION This is a group of 7 painted carbon filament lamps from Japan with the exhaust tip. There were 8 altogether. But only 7 are working. They originally had red paint, but as you can see a lot of the paint has peeled off. The bases of the bulbs say"14 V JAPAN" on them. These were produced in the 1920's. You cannot mix these with other C6 bulbs on a string. These will be a nice addition, if you have a vintage set that needs these bulbs. A little paint could be applied, if you know what to use. Some of the bases have corrosion on them. You can carefully remove enough corrosion for better contact. The pictures show that they do work, ... moreeven with the corrosion. See the pictures. The cloth covered string that I used to display them is also included. The one socket needs repaired because the wires are touching and shorting across the socket. Notice that this is also an older set of bakelite green sockets. Probably the 1920's, with swirled colors mixed in. The string is not marked with a name. The lamps operate in series, which means when one bulb burns out or comes loose, they all go out. If you use a dimmer device with these, you can preserve the bulbs a lot longer. Please ask questions. I may have missed describing something. Our items are packed carefully with bubble wrap and/or packing peanuts. Preserving vintage Christmas is our top priority. No reproduction pieces are used. We make vintage sets work again. This is not always possible due to shortage of vintage parts. If this happens we will sell an item"AS IS" Some items may be best for only displaying and not handling roughly. National Electronics 833A Ham Radio Transmitting Vacuum Tube - Good Filament
This listing is for a nice National Electronics 833A radio vacuum tube that I am listing as used but it appears to have little use. I was unable to thoroughly test this tube. But I heated the filament with an 8-volt transformer. As shown in the first photo. This not only demonstrates that the filament is intact, but also confirms that the tube still has a good vacuum and has not"gone to air. The stencil labeling on the tube is still very visible which suggests that this tube didn't spend much time inside a hot radio transmitter. Type 833A tubes were used in AM broadcast transmitters designed in the 1940s as final amplifiers and modulators in radio transmitters. A pair of these tubes were used in popular one kilowatt transmitters by RCA and Gates. This tube has an excellent appearance. Nice Clean 833A Radio Transmitting Vacuum Tube - Good Filament and Clear Glass
This listing is for a nice 833A radio vacuum tube that has a clean appearance without any remaining evidence of markings. This can happen when the heat of the transmitter removes most of the label and the person preparing this tube for sale probably scrubbed off the rest. Nevertheless. This tube does not appear to have been used heavily because the inside of the tube is not dark and the plate has a uniform appearance with no sign of being overheated or partially melted. It is likely that this tube has many good operating hours left in it. I was unable to thoroughly test this tube. But I heated the filament with an 8-volt transformer. As shown in the first and last of the photos. This not only demonstrates that the filament is intact, but also confirms that the tube still has a good vacuum and has not"gone to air. Type 833A tubes were ... moreused in AM broadcast transmitters designed in the 1940s as final amplifiers and modulators. A pair of these tubes were used in popular one-kilowatt transmitters by RCA and Gates. I will pack this tube well so that it will reach the buyer without damage.
