Original National Gas Engine Spanner Rare Curved 5/8 & 7/8 Stationary Oil Petrol
Up for auction is an original National Gas Engine spanner. The jaws are 5/8"ww and 7/8"ww and it is 12.5 inches long. It is very unusual in that it is curved. It looks to be factory made. not a regular straight one that has been heated up and bent) but i`m no expert. I have never seen one like this before. It has been weathered and has rust pitting. The 5/8" jaw is in reasonable condition but the 7/8" jaw has seen some action. see photo) It has been painted black in the distant past. Bid/Buy with your knowledge. Use my pictures as a guide. PETTER PU8 FLAT-TWIN 4-STOKE PETROL ENGINE (MILITARY WAR TIME ORIGIN)
Petter Universal PU8 flat twin 4 stroke engines were produced between 1933 and 1947. They earned a reputation for driving boats during the D day landings and for crossing the Rhine during the liberation of Germany during World War II. They were also used by the military to power fuel pumps and generating plants. This one has been out of action for a great many years but the engine still turns freely with the original starting handle although there is no compression due. I think, to a couple of sticking valves. The engine seems to be mostly complete apart from the fuel tank cap. The fuel tap and the fuel pipe to the carburetor. The Solex carburetor appears to be completely original and intact although one piece of linkage is broken; but I think that could easily be fixed. Also absent are the air filter and a cowling(please see photographs) ... moreIT HAS A TYPE MC2 MAGNETO WHICH. I AM INFORMED IS A VALUABLE ITEM SINCE IT IS THE SAME TYPE THAT IS USED ON CERTAIN SCOTT FLAT-TWIN MOTORBIKES There is a brass plaque attached to the cowling over the fly-wheel which reads; W D Serial no. 8 PU8. There is also a larger oval plaque(detached) which states’ P. UNIVERSAL PETROL ENGINE. NO. F11772. 8BHP 800/900 RPM’ No attempt has been made to restore or rebuild the engine and apart from being washed down a little with paraffin to remove years of dust and grease it is completely“as found” I think that in the right hands the engine could be made to run because. Despite its run-down condition, it is essentially quite whole. Because if its condition the engine is sold“as seen” so please study the photographs carefully and ask any questions before bidding. Up for auction is the remains of a one sixteenth(1/16th) hp Tom Senior `Simplex` stationary engine. It is an incomplete engine in poor shape. What you see is all there is. Could possibly provide some useful parts? The crankcase is 7 inches long. The crank is 6.75 inches wide x 3/8ths diameter, the piston is 1 inch diameter x just over an inch long and the stroke is 2 inches. Weighs just under 2.0kg unpacked. Sympathetic home required.
