Antique small medical air compressor, model steam engine project.
This is an interesting lot of goods. This was a very old air compressor by Thompson and Plaster co. They made medical equipment I think in the 1800s. It had a DC motor originally. But i happened to have an AC motor(General Electric) with the same size shaft and HP(1/8hp) that works well. So this could be rigged up as a neat little compressor but i think for a clever machinist type person it would make a great model steam engine project, and have 2 electric motors to boot. It has the same look as a steam engine to me and I think around the same age as steam engines. Twin opposed cylinders. Brass grease cup and fittings. The overall dimensions of the compressor piece are 10" by 5-1/2" bolt hole spacing on the round side is 2-1/2" on center, across the cylinder head 2-1/4" Any other questions just ask. General Fire Extinguisher Co. Inverted Air Compressor, Flat Belt Drive
Here we have an old flat belt drive air compressor made by the General Fire Extinguisher Company. Which I think was out of Providence, R.I. This is made to be mounted upside down in a factory, it was driven off of the line shafting to keep the sprinkler system charged. It dates to the 1890`s to about 1910, and has a great early look to it. It turns and pumps air, I had the piston out of it and the cylinder and everything else looks good. It stands about 3 feet tall, and the pulley is 22" diameter. There are no breaks or repairs to it, it`s a great piece to run off of an engine! It can be picked up in Wilbraham, MA 01095, I can store it for a while if you need time to pick it up as long as it`s paid for. General Fire Extinguisher Co. Inverted Air Compressor, Make Into Engine
Here is an old inverted vertical air compressor made by the General Fire Extinguisher Co. This would be mounted on a post in a factory or mill to be run by the overhead shafting to keep the fire suppressant system charged with pressure. It stands about 3' tall. And is in excellent condition, it pumps air and has no breaks, welds, or other repairs to it. It still has the two brass covered oil cups for the main bearings. This would be a super compressor to convert into an engine! I can strap this onto a pallet and drop it off at the local Fastenal store as long as the buyer makes the arrangements for and pays for shipping. I can also hold it here in Wilbraham, MA 01095 until you can make arrangements for pick up as long as it is paid for.
