Here's a rare and Exquisit Vintage Antique Pre-1900 Fly Fishing Reel(made of wood + brass + horn) it has a click drag which is engaged/disengaged by the brass button on the back. All gears and drag working parts are made of brass. Reel handles are made of some type of horn with brass fittings. brass button on front is to remove spool from seat. The spool and the back of the reel seat are made of unknown hardwood with some light grooves engraved into them. The back of the spool and the reel seat have some machined tin or aluminum so that dirt doesn't enter the drag assembly. Reel has no indication of manufacturer Working condition is excellent. Click drag works great- you could take this out and fish with it immediately. Spool spins freely on spindle when drag is removed. Note: one tooth is broken on the drag gear, see photos- doesn't ... moreeffect operation. Visual condition is excellent. Shows no sign of wear, except where your finger nail would rub next to the handle and wood has a scratch or two and neither are really even worth mentioning. Finish is still glossy and no bare spots- may have been just lacquered and not stained. Reel foot shows no sign of wear. Old wooden cedar fishing reel with brass starback with green bakelite handles. The reel is in beautiful original condition and looks as if it has had little or no use. The Australian cedar woodwork is in excellent condition and has beautiful colour. Two lots of two very small holes have been drilled in the spool as per photos. The purpose of these holes I have no idea! The spool detaches easily when the knurled nut is rotated slightly- a form of Slater's latch- I hope I have that right. The outside diameter of the all- brass head is 3 13/16" The threads are fine. And in my opinion are in good condition. The total length is 56" when folded up. I can find no makers mark on this heavy duty tripod. Only a couple of ISC identification marks(Iowa State College, no w the University of Iowa State) The nicely sculpted legs are approximately 1 3/4" thick at the broadest. And have all brass hardware other than the metal feet. One of the legs has a slight warp. There are of course chips. This floor shaving stand with a tilt mirror is in the Eastlake style. The age of the piece is c. 1870-1890. It is in great found original condition. The mahogany finish is original with a good patina. The original beveled mirror tilts at various angles to accomodate one who is shaving. The dovetailed drawer has the original pulls to it. The storage compartment on the bottom is unusual in that this type stand usually does not have this feature. It also has its original hardware. The stand is sturdy and tight. I have found no repairs. Antique Oak Chest 2 Drawers Over 3 Locks Brass Pulls
Sturdy and strong. This is a classically styled oak chest. It features two drawers over four, and allows for plenty of storage. It has solid construction with a newer golden finish. The drawers slide easily in and out, and each features a locking mechanism, which adds nice detail. Sadly, we do no have the original keys. The hardware is in good condition, though the top left drawer pull is missing its decorative backing plate. The top of the chest has a lovely serpentine shape. And while the surface shows wear that is consistent with age and use, it is still in very good condition. The back is starting to show its age, and some of the finishing wood has bowed. We have included a photo for reference. This does not effect the structure of the piece. The side panels have shifted a bit, and with the movement, there is some slight discoloration ... morein the seams. Again, we have included a photo. Solid wood antique secretary desk with matching dresser. Both are dove tailed wood connections with brass inlays. Purchased at high end auction and sure did pay for them. These are hand made with sold wood, solid wood drawers. Skeleton key. Lock is stage 2, marked SC&S. Please see pictures for details. We are not experts in the field of antiques so not comfortable giving an exact date on these pieces but based on other similar pieces with similar lock markings believe them to be late 19th century to early 20th. Antique Brass Snake- Cobra- Opium Weight- Burmese/Thai:33mm/ 44g This is a very pretty cast brass or bronze weight. In the shape of a coiled snake- a cobra- It is old. I think it dates from the nineteenth century but may just possibly be from first half of the twentieth century. The base appears to have writing incised into the surface- I don't recognise the script. This weight has deep patination in the crevices but is brighter where it has been handled. It is unusual to find one in the shape of a snake- quite a rare one. Size:33 mm( 3.3 cm) high weight 44 grammes. In the shape of a Indian Elephant( has small ears) standing on an octagonal decorated base- it really is rather nicely done- The space between the legs has been filled with a plug of lead, I assume to bring it up to a particular weight- there is heavy patination to the lead plug, but the brass/ bronze is pretty bright from cleaning/ handling. This is one of the more rare Bausch& Lomb American Type microscope models. It was only manufactured over just a brief 3-year period from 1889 to 1891. The featured instrument is very similar in design to the B&L“The Model” microscope. But it lacks the rack and pinion focus mechanism and is built upon a horseshoe shaped foot with rectangular pillars instead of the“Y”shaped foot with round pillars that characterized“The Model. This instrument bears the name of the manufacturer in fancy script on the top rear face of the circular stage. Bausch& Lomb Optical Co. Please see the accompanying close-up image of this inscription) However, this instrument does not bear a typical serial number. For some unknown reason, Bausch& Lomb did not inscribe serial numbers on their earlier microscopes.
