2 Antique Cast Iron Wheels w/ Axle ~ Old Industrial Hit Miss Engine Wagon Parts
Up for bids at auction: Up for bids is this set of antique cast iron wheels and axle assembly. These old wheels were a barn find from an old farm estate in Northern Missouri and are in great condition. I’m assuming they were salvaged from an old wagon or cart of some sort long ago. They have a great looking old iron patina and are ready to put back to use on any project. The wheels measure 10 inches in diameter with a ¾ inch wide track and turn very smoothly. The axle frame stands 10 ½ inches high with a spread of 12 ½ inches between the wheels. The frame platform that you would attach to your cart or wagon measures a little over 10 inches wide. Excellent rare cast iron tag from about 1880 I believe. Sign is 15-5/8" long. 4-3/4" wide, and 1/4" thick on the edge. Nice raised letters. This came off a old farm in Hustisford Wi. There was an old steam engine and a sawmill, walace tractor and other hit miss items. I think this was off of the steam engine or the sawmill. Item is 2 pounds 8 oz. I got this about 40 years ago. Here is an antique cast iron wheel. This is a single wheel that is 5 3/8 inches in diameter. The axel hole is 7/8 inches in diameter. The tread is 1 1/8 inches across.This wheel would be a great addition to a collection of wheels decorating your home or garden. It would also be useful if you were trying to gather a set for your hit& miss engine cart. I bought these to make a 3 wheeled cart for the Grandson's Maytag. But he had ideas of his own, so I am listing them. The rear wheels are 7 inches in dia and 1 1/2 inches wide. The bar axle is 28 inches long and I planned to shorten it a bit. The front caster is 4 inches in dia and I left the strap on it so you could weld to a frame of your own design. weight is about 28 lbs. One bolt holding the bearing cap on is missing. On the arbor that holds the wheel one part is broken- see pic. A vintage bench grinder made of cast iron. The overall width is apr. 10 1/4 inches. The height is apr. 5 1/2 inches. The base is apr. 5 3/4 X 4 7/8 inches. The bolt hole slots are apr. 3 5/8 X 4 1/4 inches center to center. The grinder was taken apart to make sure there was no rusted/ stuck screws. Bolts, etc. One of the tool rest is missing. Three of the four collars appear to be original and the fourth is a plain washer. We did not notice any damage. Will need to be cleaned. You will get your hands dirty from handling this. The grinder weighs under 9 lbs. before packaging. The pictures should show the rest. Plenty of lighting was used to show as much detail as possible.
