This Reichert slide is for use in ophthalmic/optometric projectors made by Reichert. AO, B&L, etc(if unsure, check your projector's manual) Note that the auction includes the glass projector SLIDE, ONLY(Reichert 11077) and NOT a projector! This item is XLNT condition. As it was bought for use in a lane which I never built; hence it's been sitting in a desk drawer ever since I bought it, well over a decade ago. I kept it around as an emergency back-up, just in case the slides I use regularly ever broke; fortunately THAT never happened. Of course. Most optometrists nowadays use new-fangled automated projectors, but try taking one of those units to say, a school screening, and set it up in the gym! Old-fashioned(and relatively-inexpensive) manual chart projectors still have a role in eye care in 2013. I say. Down-side. Has brass slide marked dennison made in U.S.A. the chrome slide has some small spots on the glass i did not try to clean the glass.The wood box is is very good condition and has a slide lock on it. This is the Reichert Project-O-Chart slide(11077) This slide uses three optotypes: Child's pictographs. Tumbling E's, and Landolt C. This makes it useful not only for peds exams(esp when combined with the Reichert near acuity card) but for patients who speak a foreign language. Or those who have difficulties communicating due to medical issues(eg s/p stroke, etc) But you know THAT already, if you're looking for one of these. This is a vintage. And from what I can come up with in research, rare contrast sensitivity slide. It goes to a project-o-chart visual acuity system. Based on what is on the slide and what I've discovered this was designed by Vistech Consultants in Dayton, OH. From what I can tell it tests contrast sensitivity, I think aimed at cataract patients. I've been unable to find anything like this slide on the web and therefore have no way of knowing how rare it is, but since I can't find any others will price higher than normal common slides you can still buy new. Massachusetts in the mid 20th century. This chart has 3 sections. The first is the clear glass chart with the black letters and numbers still used by optometrists. The second section is a red glass circle, which designates the axis of the projection. The third section is the nicely made dial and knob(signed by the maker and mounted with tiny screws) which control degree and/or distance. These features are mounted in a stainless steel metal frame. One does have a Lombart sticker on it, but they are otherwise identical and we won't hold that against it will we? These are complete and working. Removed from the same Dr's office in favor of computer screens. They are visually fine. No major scuffs or scratches, the doors in back close up fine with the provided plastic screw. I have verified that they power up and display letters. All knobs work, slides. slide, etc. They are each complete with wall mount. Letter slide, red/green slide, and working bulb inside. I will pack them well but these are sold AS-IS. These do have the usual amount of dust/artifacts/shadowing that is common with units 5+ years old.
