A quite ornate vintage African doumbek drum. The ceramic drum has a fixed goat skin head reinforced with a band of brass. The neck of the drum has a 3.5" band of stamped brass around it and it is also reinforced with brass strips. The base is surrounded by brass. The ceramic is stained a red-brown color. There is a crack from the time it was made and it is marked on the inside by the maker using a gray mark as seen in the last two photos. Despite this crack. It is perfectly solid. A free standing fireplace mantel, desk or bookshelf piece with three chamois or mountain goat figures and lovely French aneroid barometer! Not quite as masterfully detailed as some of the older pieces we've offered in the past but the impressive size and style more than compensate for ... morethat. The figures depicted as if on the rocky crags that they call home, one on each side of the barometer and the third perched top center. All of the figures have black eyes and curled horns and, while not quite as magnificent as some of the older mid-1800s chamois carvings, all are in wonderful condition with no broken or cracked legs and no missing horns. Polished brass bezel and thick beveled glass hold the barometer in the wood case, the card dial or face with French text markings. 9" x 5" Vintage Australian Hand Turned Wood Drum with Goat Skin Head& Mallet This is a very beautiful hand made drum. Using wood native to Australia. This looks like it may be Australian mahogany; the wood has been beautifully handcrafted into a lovely work of art. The natural wood has small worm holes that are original to both the finished pieces. The wood has not been varnished. The drum has a hole in the bottom for resonance. The hole in the side is for storing the hand made padded goat-skinned mallet. And is at the end of a concave oval worked into the wood. The goat-skin drum head is secured with two round copper-colored wires wrapped around two small nails. This piece is gorgeous from any direction- even upside down! The mallet is padded underneath the goat skin. Wrapped with a 1/4" strip of leather wound twice around ... morethe mallet and tied. The goat skin has a 2 1/4" split in it; despite this. The drum resonance still sounds great. The closer to the center of the drum, the lower the tone. 9 1/2" across the top. About 5" tall. Mallet is 8 1/2" long. Offered here is a nice 18 inch Irish(wooden-cross frame) bodhran drum. With goat-skin head, and wooden tipper. There are no maker's markings on the drum. Comes with a black nylon case for storage. I purchased the drum from a music company for my boyfriend. Who passed away 5 years ago. He put the leather lacing on the tipper for an easier grip. The tone is fine quality, and rings long. Width is@3 1/2 inches. The drum is in excellent shape. As it was not played very much. The goat-skin is in good condition, with variations in the color, as is natural.

VTG SKYLINE STERLING OVERLAY 1/10 K (GOLD) COWGIRL TROPHY BELT BUCKLE GOAT TYING
Up for auction is a used Skyline Silversmiths of Oakland. CA Sterling and Gold filled trophy belt buckle awarded in 1989. The buckle was won in Goat Tying at a Texas youth rodeo. The back of the buckle is stamped Skyline Silvermiths, Oakland, CA: Sterling Filled, 1/10K. This means that the sterling silver is overlaid on nickel silver. I am not sure exactly what the gold designation of 1/10K means. The buckle has raised gold lettering with TYRA on the lower left corner and 1989 on the upper right corner. A cowgirl is tying a goat in the center. The background is engraved sterling silver overlay. The berry edge border probably had some black coloring but that is mostly worn off. The buckle measures 4-1/2" wide by 3-1/4" tall. It will hold up to a 1-1/2" wide belt. The buckle has been worn. It is in good used condition showing ... morenormal wear including some light scratches. There is one larger scratch or two in the silver about 1/4" above the TY lettering.
