This 16" X 12" sign was mounted in a milk house and carefully removed. There is some rusting on the edges and some slight chipping. The colors are bright and sharp and the sign has no dings or dents. Original Tin 1907 DeLaval De Laval Cream Separators Dairy Sign in Gesso Frame
This is an original 1907 tin DeLaval Cream Separators"Green Sign" dairy dealer sign mounted in its original gesso frame. The frame has been restored as it was missing gesso and was dirty when I got it(picture 2. Restoration was done by Schaefer Studios of Madison Lake. MN and the frame is now mint. This sign in the frame measures a large 30 X 40 inches. No restoration has been done to the tin sign. It is as found and is in excellent condition. It does have some tiny specks scattered throughout the field and a few minor dents consistent with age. None of which compromises the presentation of this sign. Please note the specks shown in photo 6 are greatly magnified for accurate reporting so you can see them. The electric motor still works but the belt is worn and will need to be replaced. The plate can be read in the picture and this is all the information that we have on it. This is aused DeLaval cream separator. It was purchased used in 2005 and refurbished bySeparators Inc in Indianapolis Indiana. They balanced the main bowl andverified operation. It has sat in our storage for almost seven years. It has a240 volt single phase motor. The bowl and components are clean. We do not havetools for this unit but we do have an operations manual.

WORKING CONDITION AND HAS GAUGE METER Info found on Antique DaIry Site had the following info: The DeLaval Separator Company originated in Sweden and started in the US in 1883. The name of the company in Sweden was Aktiebolaget Separator Company or AB Separator Company. In the United States the company was known as the DeLaval Separator Company and the factory was in Poughkeepsie. New York. Carl Gustaf Patrik de Laval is credited with inventing the first continuously operating ... morecream separator in 1878 for which he received a U. S. patent on October 4. 1881. Prior to that he had patented his cream separator in Sweden(1878) England(1878) France(1879) Belgium(1879) and Italy(1879) Many DeLaval cream separators will list an earlier September 25, 1877 patent on the patent plate. This was a patent obtained by the AB Separator Company that was issued to two German inventors. Wilhelm Lefeldt and Carl Lentsch, for a centrifugal machine for creaming milk. However the separator in that patent was not continuous. It used centrifugal force to separate the cream from the milk but it had to be stopped to remove the cream. The advantage of Gustaf de Laval's invention was that the milk did not have to be separated in batches but rather the milk could be continuously separated without stopping.
