Old Surge Electric Fencer Farm Barn Cattle Hit Miss Gas Engine Sandwich Milker
This is a rather scarce original Surge fencer from the Babson Brothers Company in Chicago. IL. It is in excellent original condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs of any kind except for the small light bulb in the center of the bottom. I'm sure this would be an easy replacement. It is a very unusual design in that it has a glass bubble on it like an early electric meter. It measures about 6 inches in diameter and about 6 inches tall. The cord is a bit frayed so I didn't plug it in but I see no reason that it shouldn't work and it wouldn't be real tough to replace the cord. Surge is most noted for their dairy and milking equipment but also offered several livestock related items like this. They bought out the Sandwich Manufacturing company that made the engines and many other products including the Pine Tree milker. This unit has never been exposed to the elements. I kept it in an enclosure and put the wire around my 2/3 acre pond to"enlighten the geese"or should I say light up the geese. This unit did the trick and no geese ever ventured onto my pond after touching this wire. My one son thought the jolt would not be too bad so he touched it and it lit him up. You should have seen the look on his face and oh how he tried to convince my other son that it was not bad and to touch it to see for himself. This one comes with lots of extras that you need anyway.4 polytape wire tighteners since the wire between any insulators tends to sag somewhat over time. 15+ insulators that fit onto posts or nails including some reflectors that you put on the wire. In my case. I used rebar pounded into the ground and the insulators fastened just fine.plus one ... moreroll of polywire with stainless steel shock wire intertwined among the polyethylene rope. Just connect to the"fence" terminal and a shocking you will go. The polywire has about 150 yards left on the roll. All in all a nice setup in pristine condition.

Coast to Coast Electric Fencer Charger Controller Used. Excellent condition. Works the same as it did when it came out of the box many years ago. It's the older transformer type so it's not rated in miles of fence. The instant arc type need that designation because the fence itself acts like a capacitor and absorbs that instantaneous arc and the longer the fence the less effective they become. The old transformer type like this are far less susceptible to this phenomenon. Also these older types will actually burn off weeds and are less susceptible to lightning damage. The nameplate says Coast to Coast but I'm pretty sure Holdem made it and that's the only type I will ever use and I've been doing cattle for over a half century. The plug in chopper on the bottom is brand new and they usually last about 5 to 10 years. They ... morewere getting tough to find for awhile but now with internet that isn't such a problem. The two hot terminals are high power and low power and were principally designed for use where the high was for the fence and the low was for the cow trainers in the barn to encourage the cattle to back up a little in their stanchions to make their deposit in the gutter and not where they would lay down in it. It's slow make and break type and one of the lights indicates that the fencer is on and working and the other indicates if the fence is shorted out by the reed canary in the north swamp. Use it for cattle. Horses or any farm stock or to keep the raccoons out of the garden or the neighbor's dog off your place or your own dog home. I encourage you to review my feedback. I had attached a wire to one terminal and had it reaching out towards the opposite terminal to get that shot and accidentally touched it and got zapped. ELECTRIC FENCE ENERGISER/FENCER UNIT 12/9VOLT HOTLINE REFURBISHED 1 YEAR WARRANT This is a Hotline electric fence energiser. Model P300 Super Hawk. It has been fully refurbished and comes with a no quibble one years return to base warranty. In its original condition it worked off an internal disposable 9 volt battery. However. I have added some circuitry along with leads and clips so that it can operate off an external 12 volt car or leisure type battery if required. To make it truly portable it can still operate off an internal 9 volt battery. The battery is not supplied but is readily obtainable. There is a High and Low position switch on the side that can be very useful for saving on battery consumption. Using an internal 9 volt 135amp/hr alkaline battery. The unit will last approx. 5 months on the Hi position and approx. 6 months on the ... moreLo position. This is assuming it is switched on 24 hours a day. The energiser has its own integral four pronged earth which you push into the ground. This unit would be spot on for a paddock or for strip grazing. It can electrify up to 1.5 kilometers.
