My stock is originally from eggs I hatched from breeders in South Carolina and Georgia. They have a nice dark. Red plumage and are very calm with even the toms eating out of my 4 year old son's hand without problems. The breeders are currently in their winter housing in the barn. I have 2 toms and 6 hens running together so there is excellent fertility. In fact the eggs I have had 90% hatch rate since January. Eggs are collected at least 3 times a day so that they do not get too cold. I do mark the egg with the date it was collected with a light pencil. This doesn't at all affect hatchability. Once the eggs are collected they are stored in my basement at about 55 degrees in an incubator turner to keep the yolks viable. While I have removed any large chunks.
