This is a rather scarce original Surge fencer from the Babson Brothers Company in Chicago. IL. It is in excellent original condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs of any kind except for the small light bulb in the center of the bottom. I'm sure this would be an easy replacement. It is a very unusual design in that it has a glass bubble on it like an early electric meter. It measures about 6 inches in diameter and about 6 inches tall. The cord is a bit frayed so I didn't plug it in but I see no reason that it shouldn't work and it wouldn't be real tough to replace the cord. Surge is most noted for their dairy and milking equipment but also offered several livestock related items like this. They bought out the Sandwich Manufacturing company that made the engines and many other products including the Pine Tree milker. I Discovered this in an attic. Is this Super Clean I believe it is hardly used, Antique Vintage The Surge Fencer by Babson Bros Company in Chicago For the dairy farm, Live Stock Work. The meter itself is in unbelievably Original Condition. Everything is there, even the little light bulb is still in good condition. The only problem I can think of is, the wire. They become very fragile because of age. That is why i did not test the meter. I believe the plug is original, I have never seen such prongs in a plug before. I am selling as is, no returns. This unit has never been exposed to the elements. I kept it in an enclosure and put the wire around my 2/3 acre pond to"enlighten the geese"or should I say light up the geese. This unit did the trick and no geese ever ventured onto my pond after touching this wire. My one son thought the jolt would not be too bad so he touched it and it lit him up. You should have seen the look on his face and oh how he tried to convince my other son that it was not bad and to touch it to see for himself. This one comes with lots of extras that you need anyway.4 polytape wire tighteners since the wire between any insulators tends to sag somewhat over time. 15+ insulators that fit onto posts or nails including some reflectors that you put on the wire. In my case. I used rebar pounded into the ground and the insulators fastened just fine.plus one ... moreroll of polywire with stainless steel shock wire intertwined among the polyethylene rope. Just connect to the"fence" terminal and a shocking you will go. The polywire has about 150 yards left on the roll. All in all a nice setup in pristine condition.

It has been fully refurbished and comes with a no quibble one year return to base warranty. Cosmetically. The label is a bit tatty, but this does not detract from the operation of the unit. It can operate off 6. 9 or 12 volts DC. Maximum power is obtained from a 12 volt supply. A suitable source would be a 12 volts car/leisure type battery. The Amp/hr rating of the battery will determine the charging interval. For example, a 55 amp/hr battery will require charging approximately every six weeks. If necessary, 6v or 9v batteries can be used while the main battery is being recharged. As the battery for the P250 Merlin is placed outside the fencing unit.
