This is a very fine and delicate appearing antique hand forged branding iron in the shape of an O bar and curved line. This particular iron is made of square stock. Twisted in the middle, with a hand beaten design at the top. There is a forged receptacle for a wooden handle. The arms that hold the brand are beautifully twisted and attached to the top of the brand. The original hand forged welds and rivets are visible in several places on the iron. The patina is old and undisturbed. And the iron does not appear to have been repaired or altered. This iron came from a collection in Tucson, AZ and the owner indicated that it dates to 1880s and was used on a ranch in southern Arizona near Bisbee. We ship internationally. You are bidding on a rare branding iron that might be a Lazy J ranch? It looks like JI or JH to me. It's a 34 1/1 inch long branding iron for cattle/ sheep/ livestock with a brand that measures approx 2 1/2 inches by 3 inches wide. It is black wrought iron- looks like a blacksmith may have hand forged it. In excellent condition. The handle has a round eye on the end for easy hanging and the end has a Y aka FORK where it attaches to the logo. This smaller size was likely for branding sheep and small animals. This is a very nice antique hand forged fancy Flying V branding iron. This particular iron is made of square stock with a hand wrought loop handle. The brand is attached to the 4 supports with original blacksmith welds. The iron measures 23" long and the brand measures 4" tall x 4-5/8" wide. The patina is old and undisturbed. And the iron does not appear to have been repaired or altered. This iron came from a collection in Tucson, AZ and the owner indicated that it dates to 1880's and was used on a ranch in southern Colorado near Durango. We ship internationally. Rustic Western Branding Iron Horse Cattle Double O Decor Historic Ranch Replica
I don't know any way to date this particular iron. But I know that it's at least 30 years old. The Double O Ranch is a historic Eastern Oregon cattle ranch, but this is probably NOT a ranch-used Double O iron. Their simple brand is easily reproduced with a pair of rings, and this 38" roughly) iron was made as a replica decor item. It may have been used to make decorative brands, but probably not used on livestock, as it would have been worthless as identification unless it was used on Double O livestock. It is sized as a cattle brand. Horse branding irons are usually a little smaller so as not to deface them as much. This is not an absolute given, as sometimes ranchers use what they've got. This long. Cumbersome item is shipping in a recycled light box, the only thing I could find that was long enough to hold it. It's ... morein the 6-7 lb. range. This is a great decoration item. And authentically made. You could brand your steaks with it- if you didn't mind making them well done immediately. It's much larger than those cutesy little kitchen branding irons for steaks. It could be made into all manner of western decor. I noticed today that it does stand up pretty well on its O's, so you could make one heck of a toilet paper holder out of it, or attach it to a larger base so that it would be more stable, as I think it's gonna' fall over when you take the toilet paper off. You could also mount it horizontally as a towel rack, or leave one end open to hold lots of toilet paper. I have to downsize my collections. So please help me out. You think of something cool to do with it, or just admire it. Lamp base? This shipment will be subject to oversize charges due to the box length.

Vintage Old Time Western Cattle Cowboy Punching Branding Iron With A Brass End
Vintage Old Time Historic Western Cattle. Cowboy Cow Punching Branding Iron With A Brass End. This cool vintage item weighs a little over 2 pounds and measures 15 1/4" tall. What sets this apart from most branding irons besides the unusual brand design(see third picture) is that the branding part is made of solid brass. An unusual feature I think for the time period. The brass is 7/16" thick and 1" tall and then tapers down to 1/8" wide on the image area for branding. Most unusual and intricate design. The wood handle has rotted away due to age. I don't know what the image is supposed to represent so if any body can enlighten me please do so.

Up for auction is a antique branding iron found at an old farmhouse estate sale. This branding iron. Along with two others, was in the corner of one of the old barns on the property. This could be used for banding cattle and other livestock, or it could be repurposed as a beautiful and rustic home decor item. The barn was barely standing, and everything in there was covered with about a inch of dust. Offering a vintage primitive cattle branding iron that has a hickory handle attached. This one brands with the letter"X" with tails as shown in the photos. The wood handle is in good condition.
