This particular year has a lot of good content. Including Culture and Manufacture of Flax and Hemp; Grapes on Kelley's Island, Ohio; Grapes of North America; Germantown on Grape Culture; Vine Cutting and Wine-Making; Raising Sheep and Wool-Growing; Agriculture of San Bernadino County, California; Raspberry Culture; The Strawberry; On the Destruction of Noxious Insects; Indian Culture; Character, Cultivation and Use ... moreof the Lupine; Horses of New England; Select Breeds of cattle, and much more. There are some very neat engraved illustrations in this volume too- Zadock Patt- Dairy Farming, Green and Orange Counties, NY(3 views of farm, plan, milk, churn& packing rooms in butter house) grape vine shapes and greenhouses; orchard houses; and entomology- various types of insects. This Civil War Era Agriculture Report is rather scarce and often pricey because of all the great content. This copy is still in the original 1862 binding and is very nice shape. BOOK DESCRIPTION/CONDITION: 8vo- over 7 3/4" to 9 3/4" tall. Original Reddish-brown cloth hardcover with designs/illistration in gilt front and rear. Title in gilt on spine. Cloth color faded looking a bit duller than it does in the photo. Remarkably, not much cover wear. Binding solid. Foxing on endpapers, sparse, sporadic, scattered foxing throughout interior, not uncommon in aook of this age and type. Nmae written in pencil on first blank endpaper.
