OLD ANTIQUE BAUME SCALE FOR SYRUP IN TUBE WITH METAL HOLDER MADE IN USA
This auction is for an all original Baume Scale for syrup. It is about 10 1/2 inches in length. No chips or cracks in the glass and it seems to be complete. The cardboard holder for the thermometer is about 12 inches in length. The metal holder is about 9 1/4 inches in length. Apparently the thermometer would have been put in the metal holder and hung on the side of whatever type of container was being used to head maple syrup or whatever type of syrup was being made. A candy store could have used something like this as well. I believe all of the items included in this auction are from the 1920's. This item is being sold as I found it. It does have age use and wear and can possibly be cleaned up a bit which I will leave up to you. Maple syrup sap pump bronze brass stainless transfer pump Marine Products
Used Marine Products Model R11 Naval bronze/brass pump with stainless steel shaft. This pump is 1-1/2" X 1-1/4" X 4" impeller. I do not have hard flow data. But at ~1500 RPM and depending on your hoses and lift arrangement, should pump 20-30 GPM. If primed and used with a foot valve, it will lift out of a barrel with no problem. My father bought this un-used in the 1960's from and Army surplus store. It may have been designed as a bilge pump. I rigged it up to pump sap in the 1980's. And used it for 3 or 4 seasons until I got all my trees on a gravity system. I used it with a 3-1/2 HP Briggs engine as displayed in photos. NOTE: The engine is just for display and DOES NOT come with this but I am including the base plate. I put a brand new bearing in today. And it is ready for work! I would say that if you're in the market for pristine taps, then you'll want to pass on this auction and buy new from a maple dealer. But if you have time to sit down in a chair and work on removing the tubing that's still on them then you'll keep yourself from having to pay for new taps.
