He start in the Toms River police department back in the mid 1930's and became the police chief in the late 1940's. Was on the force all the way thru the mid 1960's at one position or another. He retired in 1965 and pass away in 1970. He was a beat cop at age 25 and this is the Billystick that he carry with him on his beat around Toms River. Let me tell you he really had some long tales and storys about this night stick he use to tell us kids back in the day. San Francisco Police SFPD Riot Helmet & Nightstick Baton
Here is a very old. Possibly 1960's vintage San Francisco Police Riot Helmet, made by the Super Seer Corporation in Colorado. It is blue plastic of some sort, with a clear plastic face shield, pleather" ear harness, plastic chin cup, and styrofoam suspension cushion. It bears the SFPD cap emblem decal in gold, SFPD" on either side, along with one(1) lieutenant's bar, and stick-on numbers"155" on the front and rear, with"G" possibly indicating Company G(Richmond Station) I do not have the actual history on this helmet. A few pix of the era in which I think it came are also included on this listing. In addition to the helmet. I have included an even older wood nightclub or baton, which I don't have any other info on it, other than it is twenty-three(23" in length, appears to be oak, has a ringed ... moregrip with hole for lanyard. Circa 1830-1850 Antique Police Billy Club Door Knocker Baton Truncheon Cosh
Circa 1830-1850 police baton Purchased from an estate several years ago without knowing much history of it. It appears to be of a local Boston manufacturer from back in that time period from what research I've done. However there is a great chance I'm wrong. Similar law enforcement batons of that era from the Boston manufacturer appear to have the same shape. Strap location and share the same weight and length. This particular baton weighs just shy of 2lbs and is 13" in length. It is made of oak. The center was drilled and lead was poured in to add ballast. Some batons of that era were not drilled however some were and had either cement or lead poured into them for ballast. The only identifying marks on the baton are the 3 thing lines scribed into the head. I have not found any other identifying marks elsewhere nor a manufacturer ... morestamp or brand as some seem to have. The baton does have a few blemishes in the head in the form of splits in the wood grain. It appears its just due to age not actual damage or misuse or neglect. Also the bottom edge of the handle has chipped on either side. Again. I'm sure it's just an age issue not actual damage from misuse or neglect. The leather strap is quite old and somewhat brittle. It's hard to tell the exact age however it could be original. The entire baton has a great patina as you can see in the photos and has always been kept in a display case since the estate(from what I was told) and my possession. It is a great piece of law enforcement memorabilia and would make. Great addition to anyones collection. Thank you for looking and happy bidding.

Listed is a police baton or night stick. It is possibly from the mid 1800’s. It is weighted internally and covered with leather. The overall length is about 12” long. The handle is strikingly covered with a tightly braided weave(possibly rawhide) This baton is as nice as you will find. It looks as though it was just issued to the officer. It is in that nice condition. I took one photo to show where the leather seam is so you can see that it is tight and closed fully. The handle has no fraying and is beautifully wound tight. My grandfather best friend/neighbor was a Chicago Police officer. My grandfather died in the late 50's and I was told it was given to him. The story seems to ring true. Rare Vintage Police Truncheon - Antique Turned Wood Baton - Nightstick w Notches
Hello Bidder. Here we have a very early antique Police Truncheon composed of beautiful dark turned hard wood. This antique piece is grip-less and does not have a handle. Instead, there are two holes put through the grip area, and a string is woven through the holes to create the sort of strap effect that the user desired. I highly doubt that the string on this piece is original- as it is a very bright white, devoid of the age wear exhibited by the rest of the piece. The wood hints toward the piece's vintage or antique history but is well maintained and crafted. Interestingly, there are viisible signs of use as well as notches purposefully carved into the wood. If there is a mark of ownership, or a maker's mark, I cannot see it. This piece has certainly seen its share of use. All of this sets this police baton(or nightstick, if you ... morewill) apart from other nice pieces that are similar but not quite like it. The approximately 27" truncheon has a very straight and uniform approximately 1.25" width from the base all the way to the'business end' The piece sports no visible paint that I can detect, lending an air of mystery- this one may be more special than I can surmise through web research. Obviously, this piece is not sold for any use other than display, collection, resale or keepsake enjoyment. The wood is battered and worn in spots because, well: this is a) old, and b) it was used to bludgeon things. Pretty straightforward! Antique Leather-Covered Weighted Police Billy Club, Blackjack, Or Baton, c.1800s
This is a rare. Antique billy club or baton(also called a truncheon, billy stick, cosh, nightstick, sap or stick. It is a leather-covered club of less than an arm's length with a weighted end that was used by police officers for self-defense and forced compliance. The actual billy club is covered with leather; unknown as to which police department. It is rare, in part, due to the shape; large bulbous end that is weighted. The overall length measures approximately 19" actual billy club is 8.5" and, the width of the round, wide end is 2" The handle and wrist strap are not original; tape is wrapped around the handle and old electrical wiring was used for the wrist strap. The leather has some cracking, cuts and scrapes that are related to age and heavy use. Regardless, the actual billy club, itself, is in good condition for ... moreits age.
