Up for sale is a Vintage Elkhart Brass MFG. CO. Chrome& Brass Fan Fire Hose Nozzle With 3" Adapter. This nozzle and adapter looks to be in good condition. These have been looked at by a fire department but not tested. These where found in a barn at a estate moving sale. I'm selling these as they where found. On the nozzle some of the chrome is coming off the top of it as seen in the pictures. It does fully adjust up and down for spray size. The nozzle measures 5 1/4" tall by 4 7/8" across the top with a 2" I.D. on the bottom. The adapter fits a 3" hose and reduces down to 2" to fit the nozzle. They both show signs of use but are both neat items that will be a neat addition to a collection or as a decor item. They say pictures are worth a thousand words. This nozzle is mated with the PRV but can be installed elsewhere in the line. We are not sure of the technical aspects of this valve. Without an item or model# locating any data sheets online would be difficult. The rubber gaskets look to be in good condition. We adjusted the pressure by removing the set screw, pulling the handle straight off the stem, removing the lock cap, reinstalled the adjustment handle on the stem, and turned accordingly. The mechanical components do move ... moresmoothly. The reinstallation of the handle and lock cap in reverse, 1 1/2" size. The fire nozzle spray pattern does have adjustment. Overall very good cosmetic and mechanical condition. 1917 ELKHART FIRE HOSE NOZZLE 3 PIECE WRAPPED BASE LEATHER STRAPS
Offering a patent dated August 7. 1917 Elkart fire hose nozzle. This is a 2 piece nozzle. The top can be screwed off from the base. Nice Elkhart heart and elk logo. Measures about 16 inches high. Base portion is wrapped in some kind of red material to ensure a better grip. As you can see in the fourth picture, one area is broken off; it is the portion that connects one leather to the base. Original patina with wear from a lot of obvious use. Leather straps are drying but still have a little bit of suppleness. The nozzle unscrews in 2 places: the very top and the portion just above the upper portion of the straps. Therefore, it is a 3 part nozzle. I don't know very much about these pieces, so if you have any questions, please email me and be specific. On the handle base it is marked 1542 over E21. It is also signed AKRON and URBANA on the Nozzle Base. The handles are the original BLACK HARD RUBBER and are in great condition. Up for auction is a very cool brass fire hose nozzle! This was made by Elkhart Brass Co. Measures 10" long(not including the actual hose) and weights about 5 lbs. The lever shows'open' closed' and moves back and forth pretty easily. As the pictures show, the nozzle does come off of the hose section, and the nozzle still has the hard, rubber top. It measures 4 3/4" tall, and does have scratches in finish, and am sure it has seen plenty of fires. The new ones sell for $129.00. This one is not even close to new! My guess is early to mid 1900's. Nozzle still works!
