This is a very* very unique and rare all leather antique- vintage RED Fireman's- Ladder man's Helmet No. 26 I believe to have been made by Cairn's& Brothers. Red helmets were worn by firemen in hook-and-ladder companies. Upon some research on this totally incredible helmet. I have come to believe that this hat was from the Boston area Fire Department and was worn by a Ladder man- hence the red helmet. The shield appears to have been made by the Boston Fire Department Hose Shop. It is all leather and is in good condition! This hat does have some age appropriate leather crazing. It also has a 2" tear in the wool liner. The tag is missing in the lid of the helmet- you can see where it had been at one time. This monitor should be fully tested and only used by trained professionals. Great addition to your collection. The only online pricing I found was a price list from 2002 and this monitor had a list price of $585.00. I am not a expert on these but from my research I have determined it is probably a model FP1-30. LOT OF MISCELLANEOUS TEXACO AND BMC TOYS FIRE FIGHTING ITEMS You are bidding on a lot of 7 red firemen’s helmets. 1 white Texaco firemen’s helmet, 2 ladders, 2 bells with chains and one metal frame. The descriptions of the items are as follows: RED FIREMEN’S HELMETS: The 7 red firemen’s helmets are about one inch wide. One and a quarter inch long and almost three quarters of an inch tall. As one can see they are red with a white patch on the front of the helmet. On the white patch it appears to say: BMC– BMC Toys- HOOK LADDER Senior” On the front crown of the helmet is an eagle’s head and there is a gold ring at the rear of the helmet. WHITE TEXACO FIREMEN’S HELMET: The white firemen’s helmet also is about one inch wide. One and a quarter inch long and almost three quarters of an inch tall. On the front of the helmet is the Texaco Red Star ... morelogo. On the front crown of the helmet is an eagle’s head and there is a gold ring at the rear of the helmet. LADDERS: The two ladders are dark brown in color. Have four rungs and are 3.5 inches long and a little more than 1inche wide. BELLS: The two bells are silver in color with silver chains that are about 2 inches long. The bells stand about one half inches tall METAL FRAME: The metal frame is red in color. Stands about 3 and one quarter inches tall and is 3 and three quarter inches wide. On the back of the frame and on each leg is a bracket. I have no idea what it is for. Your opening bid is $4.99.
