Akron Brass 4-Way Hydrant Connection Akron Brass 4-way hydrant connection fire valve. 15" long. 11.5" wide, 3" inner diameter fittings. 18 pounds. Good physical condition, noticeable paint wear, scratches, scuffs and wear from use and handling. The valve handle moves reasonably smoothly but there is some play before I feel the valve itself opening or closing. Large Old Vintage Akron Brass MFG Co Fire Hose Nozzle with Double Sided Handle
Up for bidding is an old Akron Brass MFG. Co. Fire Fighting Nozzle unit. This unit has a solid brass nozzle end piece that can be unscrewed and is fully removable from the main body. The main portion of the pipe body on this piece is made from heavy gauge copper. The free rotating dual handle is made from solid brass along with the lower fitting which is also made of solid brass. This piece of firefighting memorabilia is very big and bold. It stands impressively tall at 30 inches and weighs in at around 8 pounds. The tip of the nozzle is 1 1/2 in diameter and has an inner diameter of 1 1/8 inches. The lower brass fitting which would attach directly to a hose is 3 3/4 inches in diameter with an inner diameter of 3 inches. The lower brass connector fitting is stamped NS Akron BRASS MFG. CO. INC. and the removable brass nozzle tip is stamped ... morewith 1 1/8. The tapered copper pipe body appears to be straight with no dings or dents as viewed directly down the bore. The piece is mostly wrapped but will need to be rewrapped if you prefer as some of the original string has come undone. Some collectors prefer this portion wrapped while others prefer this piece bare and or fully polished. It also has a great patina as it sits. I personally have always thought this piece would look spectacular if it were to be polished up and wrapped with fire engine red colored string, but that's just my taste. Either way what you decide, there is no doubt that this vintage piece would look stunning and bold as a display. Overall. This is a nice vintage piece with only a few very minor tool marks found at the base of the brass nozzle tip, just in one spot is all I've seen. This is a very old fire hose shutoff valve with a spray deflector in one end. It is stamped'The Akron Brass Mfg. Co. Patent Applied For' It is also decal marked'WFD1' whihc stands for Winona Fire Dept#1. Valve measures approx 6.5" long by 9" by 2 1/2" at widest end and weighs just over 3 pounds. The shutoff rotation control portion works and moves smoothly. Please look closely at the pictures. As they accurately depict the condition and are part of the description. Here is a great old fire nozzle stamped Akron and also National Fire Equipment company. There are two different dates I have shown each one. This is solid brass and I think nickel plated. This is 24 inches high and has a 3 inch inside diameter coupler. This still has the leather handles on each side although the leather looks like it may be brittle. I believe this to be a two man nozzle. This has not been cleaned whatsoever by me so of course there are is some wear and dirt. This is quite heavy and I am unsure of shipping cost at this moment. This is untested so is being sold"as is" There isn't much to nozzles- water comes in one end out goes out the other with a control arm& a few rubber o-rings to keep it from leaking. One working, in the center, for the horizontal levels, and the other one, for vertical levels, is empty. It's there, but no liquid in it. It is serial No 10088. It is also marked“9-33” which I am sure is the date Sept. 1933. It is a total of 24” long and has a 3 inch inlet. All couplings are free and easily go together and come apart.
