From the original owner, who worked for the Bell Telephone system as a lineman in the late 1970’s to the late 1990’s, exact age is unknown. This is a pair of Pole/ tree climbers. Made by the Buckingham Manufacturing Company, not sure of age, but believe with the date code of 4-75 they were from the April 1975 era. The climbers are stamped on the main beam Buckingham BELL SYSTEM F. BUCKINGHAM 4-75, WE91171. in beam side is SHORT 14 3/4– 18 1/2 The top slide is adjustable. The gaffs are permanent CCA pole type and are 1 3/4”long. The shank is the contoured type. The top pads. Are stamped A.E. BURGESS LEA CO. 3-84. By the date I would assumed the pads were changed in 1984. The climbers have ... morebeen lightly cleaned. And the leather treated with leather oil. Condition* please review photo’s for your assurance of requirement’s and condition and use” The steel climbers themselves appear in good condition. Gaffs are in great shape, but the metal parts has the silver paint chips and rubs, has rust spots and discoloration, they need a good cleaning… Gaff covers…are in great shape The top pads. The leather seems good, a little stiff but mostly flexible, not cracks of tears. Top nylon straps. Appear in good shape, shows no cracks…but due to age would suggest to be replaced before climbing. Both bottom nylon straps. Appear in good shape, shows no cracks…but due to age would suggest to be replaced before climbing. As with a used item. There is normal wear, a few dings and scratches, some discoloration and a few spots of rust on buckles, all as noted from the photos. 2 Lineman pole/ tree climbing spikes,1belt,1saftey strap and extra 2straps # 918
This was my Dads Lineman spikes. Belt, safety strap. They have been in a barn for 14 years. And havent been use or tested for that long. The belt and the safety strap was in the original plastic bags with some holes in the bags. So there is a little bit of corrosion on the metal but can be cleaned off. The Blue/white ajustable hooks are Klein hooks with buckingham model 3500 top padded nylon w/ Velcro straps. The second set are Buckingham model 3922 leather adjustable the spike looks larger than the fist set maybe for trees? The belt is a Miller 8435 nylon with a leather end. The safety strap is a Buckingham 3660. I have 2 extra hook straps and a extra Klein leather top part for a hook. Here is a climbing setup which includes the two leg spikes and the heavy climbing belt. It looks like a Klein belt but I cannot find any mark on the equipment. The belt looks very good. It does not appear to have had a lot of use. The spikes are in great shape, again they do not appear to have had a lot of use. Some of the straps on the spikes appear to have some mold on them. They should be tested, and oiled as they appear stiff, but I think they will work fine. Please check out the pictures, and thank you for looking.

Up for bid is a newer set of Klein Climbing Tree or Pole Climbing Spikes model 8210. Klein manufactured a complete set of durable linemans pole climbers and tree climbers. They incorporated the features professional climbers found most desirable over the years. I believe the sleeve length on these is fixed. This set of spikes has a cushioned and padded leather inner leg for maximum comfort. The spikes seem to be about 2 1/4 inches. The top foot straps and lower ankle strap have several adjustment holes for a good fit. Klein offer a unique climbing experience. Thse gaffs are prefered by many experienced climbers.
