Frick may be making only refrigerating equipment these days(as part of either Johnson Controls. Or York Inc. but only a half century ago, threshers, sawmills and steam engines produced by Frick were among the most highly regarded and most popular in the country. George Frick(1826-1895) was an engineering genius. Who began building steam engines for farm use in the early 1850s, in a shop on Antietam Creek in Pennsylvania. As this official company history states, George Frick heard the guns at the battles of Antietam and Gettysburg, saw the pony express superseded by the trans-continental railroad, supplied machines which helped open the Great West, and ushered in the era of refrigeration. When he died in 1892, Frick equipment was in use from Coast to Coast. The history of the Company he founded thus parallels the story of America. And it’s all here. With nearly 200 black and white drawings, photos, and illustrations. This fabulous book is literally a museum of the Frick Company, and the great equipment it manufactured. There is a photo of the town of Frick, Switzerland, the ancestral home of the Frick family. There are also photos of the Frick home in Quincy, Penn. which, according to the caption, was later occupied by other important companies: Landis Tool Co. Landis Machine Co. and the Good Lumber Co. There’s a photo of George Frick’s home and shop near Ringgold. Md. which was still standing in the mid 1950s when this incredible document was written. Portable saw mill "With Power Head" (more info added)
I am the original owner of this saw/mill. This unit is in good working condition. The unit as pictured weighs 38 Lbs. This saw can cut an 8 foot board in about 60 seconds. 3 bars and chains. Bars are 36"32" and 30"an Oregon, a Skandic and a Woodsman Pro from Baileys, averaging a bit more than 100.00 ea. The chains have some life to not much but the bars show little wear, having 1/8" +- of depth left before the chain drive links bottom out. The chains show the tooth configuration I use. This saw had no spark, I bought all new electrical parts, started installation and found a shorted wire. I corrected this and now the saw has spark and there is the new set of electronics which I will include. The choke is a brass rod and it works as it should. Included are the manual and part list, also a hard cover book by Malloff on Chainsaw ... moreLumber making which taught me everything I needed to know about chain saw milling. This book is hard to get. I am 64 an can make 200 board feet in about 6 hours without working too hard. The initial asking cost could be recouped in 3 short days of milling, at least I could, results may(will) very as I have experience with this mill. I will also include some notes about fuel, oil, chains etc. The building pictured will end up costing me under 100.00 less the roofing. I put shipping at 70.00, as bars and everything could be over 50 lbs. If it is less I will refund the difference, if it is more I will pick it up. As you can see the side cover has been altered/cutaway to allow the saw dust to drop down instead of packing in the cover, the chain adjuster is still there,intact and works as it should. RARE! Vintage 1970 OLYMPIA SM-9 DELUXE PORTABLE TYPEWRITER w/ MILL TYPEFACE Great looking 1970 OLYMPIA Portable Typewriter in original case. Made in Western Germany. Typewriter is white/light gray with a dark gray base/bottom and is in super clean condition, with just some minor nicks& scrapes in the exterior. The exterior case has some minor marks. But no damage. It is serial#4138117 which according to typewriterdatabase.com was manufactured in 1970. The rare feature of this typewriter is it's"Mill or Mil Typeface" in which the lower case letters type as upper case letters. But in smaller size/form as shown in photo#7 which was typed on this typewriter. There are no typical"lower case" letters on the keys. As for function. It types perfectly as shown in photo#7. Estimated processing capacity is 2 tons per hour. The plant is engineered as follows(pictures are in sequence) 1. The ore is fed into a 20” x 12” Jaw Crusher powered by a 4 cylinder Wisconsin VH4D gas motor. 2. The primary crushed ore falls onto a 12” Roll Crusher( new) run by 2. 5hp electric motors 3. The secondary crushed ore is transported by a 10’ x 16” conveyor run by a 2hp electric motor to 4. 16” Sprout Waldron Plate Grinder(new) run by a 10hp electric motor for final milling 5. The milled ... moreore is fed to a 3’ x 6’ Shaker Table complete with steel riffles and launders run by 3hp electric motor 6. All components except the jaw crusher are powered by 3ph electric motors through dual control panel. The unit needs a 25-30kw 3 phase generator which is not included. There is a pre-wired stand on the trailer for the generator. This unit would be ideal for a small hard rock mining operation or to test a lode deposit. Just tow to the site. Hook up to a minimal water supply for the shaker table and you are processing ore. No chemicals or leaching agents required. Easy to permit since it is portable and self contained. All components are either new or in excellent condition. Unit cost over $35K to construct. Asking $19.500 or best offer FOB. I don't expect this unit to last long on Ebay.
