Vintage Bashlin 16" Steel Tree Climbing Spikes This is a set of Vintage spikes probably date back to the mid 30's? Made proudly in Grove City PA. Patent#2016249. Granted Oct 1935. The leather"holsters" seem to be in ok condition. But the straps should be replaced for safety. The lower straps are not present, it looks like the previous owner used duct tape to attach to boots. The spikes look to be permanently mounted. And are in good condition. I don't know if people use these a lot. But I know they would make a wonderful addition to any rustic man cave wall, or up north cottage decor. The spikes measure 16" from top to bottom. Wear these on the job and just s ee how your feet. Legs and back feel after wearing these for a day! I worked in logging on Vancouver Island. British Columbia and spent $890.00 on these. After a serious back injury. I was unable to return the deep woods of British Columbia to continue cutting trees- this is the ONLY reason why I would part with these amazing boots. I have owned 3 pairs of Viberg boots. And while they are a chunk of change upfront, they have outlasted other brands I wore in the past by a 8 to 1 ratio- making them a lot less expensive in the long run. About these boots These boots were custom. Hand made. They are designed ... morefor a size 11.4E but can fit smaller with an extra insole. The uppers are 10" measured from the top of the sole(12" total height) The leather was upgraded to heavy Buffalo hide. Instead of the standard cow leather. The extra toe caps are reversed heavy Buffalo. Vintage styled. The tongue is full height++. Super thick leather. The inside bellow(behind the tongue) is also full height to keep chips out and is also fully custom padded. All of the quarters are fully padded in between the leather outer and inner. The soles are Glued. Nailed, and Stitched. All major seams are quadruple-stitched! Padded sole- you won't believe how these feel. Accommodates a wide calf or tucking in your pants. VINTAGE UTILITY POLE LINEMAN TREE CLIMBING CLIMBERS GAFFS SPIKES HOOKS SPURS
These climbing hooks belonged to my dad. He worked for a gas and electric company in California for about 30 years. He purchased these in the early 60's and used them up until about'72 when he became a supervisor. After that they were only used on the 4th of July when he would climb the pole in our neighborhood and turn out the street light so we could light our fireworks in the dark. The poles are still in pretty good condition. The hooks are aluminum and the spikes are steel with leather binding at the top and bottom. That being said. They are VINTAGE. One set of spikes are for poles and the other set is for trees(a little longer) The tree spikes are taped to the hooks as you can see in the pictures. The upper straps(around the calf area) are adjustable up and down depending on how long you need them. The aluminum hooks themselves ... moreare about 19" from the bottom of the hook up to the top.
