This is a really neat original sales catalog for Quaker City Grinding Mills made by the A.W. Straub Company in Philadelphia. PA. It is in excellent condition and measures about 6 x 9 inches with 32 pages. It shows all of the different mills that the company offered from hand mills to their big belt driven models. It shows all of the features of the mills and also has many testimonials from users. The catalog has a great color cover and back cover and has almost no wear! It would be a great addition to your early agriculture literature collection especially if you have a Quaker City mill. Catalogs in this condition don't turn up very often so don't miss it. Mills Winchester Bear Head Cartridge Belt
Original and very rare circa 1880s Winchester"Bear Head" 45 caliber woven cartridge belt. This belt was designed in 1881 by Winchester. And in a partnership with Mills producing the woven belts started what was to become some of the famous belts used later by the U.S. military. This particular belt was highly prized by civilians and heavily used on the western frontier. Many famous people of the time owned and worn one of these Winchester"Bear Head" cartridge belts i.e. Teddy Roosevelt and Buffalo Bill Cody among others. This belt remains in nice condition, is all intact, and presents nicely on display. Original circa 1880s Winchester"Bear Head" plate is in great condition and has most all of its original nickel plated finish remaining intact. The keeper remains in great condition as well, has most all of its ... morenickel plated finish intact, and is marked with the Winchester Repeating Arms Co. and trademark information. There is only slight fraying on the belt as can be seen in the pictures provided. These belts came in two size, the rifle and pistol size. This belt is absolutely 100% guaranteed to be an original and would make a fantastic display paired with large bore frontier related rifle. Interesting Mills.30 Caliber Cartridge Belt(111-B) Here is an interesting tan Mills woven cartridge belt for.30 caliber rifle ammunition. Circa 1898-1900, for use with Springfield M-1896/98 Krag or M-1903 Rifle which shows a veterans modification for a belt knife. See attached photo) The Mills belt is in excellent condition, no frayed areas, good color, just a little dusty from age. Has a standard“C” clasp and sliding keepers, both of brass. The brass end adjusters are each stamped with the standard Mills& Orndorff patent information, dates from Aug‘67 to Sept. 94. Belt held 45 cartridge loops, the 14th and 15th loop removed; and a matching thick cotton loop, one-inch wide, was sewn in their place, sufficient to hold in place a Bowie knife scabbard. US M1903 Woven Infantry Cartridge Belt, Mills Mfg post 1906
Up for auction is what I believe to be a M1903 nine pocket US cartridge belt with eagle snaps. The belt is in what I would consider good+ condition. There is what appears to be a couple of repaired area on the belt that look to have been old repairs(see pics) Otherwise there are no rips or holes on the belt. There is tarnish on some of the brass and the snaps are dark(as to be expected for a 100 year old item) There are Mills patent dates stamped into the adjustment ends(the last being July 30'07) on one side and"Mills Woven Cartridge Belt Co. Worcheter, MA" on the other side. There is a very faint Mills stamp on the inside canvas of the belt. There is some paint on the inside of the belt as well, to cover a unit designation I would assume. It appears as though the paint has been there for some time and is not fresh.
