Vintage Beekeeping Hand Pump Sprayer???? Copper & Brass
Vintage Beekeeping Equipment? I am not exactly sure what this item is. I got it from the estate of an elderly gentleman who used to raise bees and sell honey. As you can see. It has a hand pump handle where you would pump powder out the fixtures. The cap unscrews on the end of the tube and the two fixtures mounted on the sides will unscrew and screw onto the end of the tube. All three caps are interchangable. I believe that it was for spraying powder into the hive but I am not sure. It has a wood handle that attaches to what looks to be a brass rod inside the tube. Outer tube looks to be copper and the screw on fixtures look to be brass. I have not tried to file a small spot on any of this item to determine exactly if it is made of brass or copper, I didn't want to mar the surface. Here is vintage bee keeping equipment. The hat has a lions international sticker on the front and band inside to keep tight to your head is broken. The hat is made of some type of resin material- lightweight. The netting which goes over the hat has holes and snags in material. The part you look thru is more rigid material with larger netting in excellent condition. The string/ rope on the top( over top of hat) seam in netting is way to long- there is no string for the lower section. There is a red piece of something- it might have been some type of elastic closure for the bottom- would make sense to me! The gloves have L for large and string proof gloves stamped on them. Vintage Beekeeper's Tin. Leather and Wood Bee Smoker. This is vintage Beekeeper's Bee Smoker. Manufactured by Kelley's of Clarkson. Kentucky. Used to anesthetize bees so honey combs can be removed from the hives. Great conversation and display piece. This item is a must have for any collector. Bee keeper or bee enthusiast. It measures about 9 1/2" tall and about 5" wide. This is a Direct Draft bee smoker. Instead of a solid connecting pipe between the firebox and bellows, what's left is a small but critical gap between them, This arrangement allowed air to draft upwards from the bottom of the firebox, through the fire, and to flow out from the funnel, even when the bellows were not pumped! Primitive Beekeeping Bee Smoker Vintage Antique Tin with wood leather bellow
Found this old tin and wood beekeeper bee smoker at an IOWA FARM AUCTION. The smoke chamber is leather on the outside and fully intact. The tin canister has a good bit of surface rust but is still solid and has the strainer inside. Appears to have all the metal brackets that came with it originally; top removes easily. It is in decent condition and could be used as a nice display piece with a little cleaning. Any writing that was on the wood bellow has faded away. The air pumps very well and could be used if you’d like. It is 10" tall at the spout. The bellow is 7.5” Tall and 5” wide. Please email with any questions. Selling as is. As pictured with no reserve. Vintage beekeeper suit. Gloves, and helmet. Outfit was found at an estate sale and appears to be in very good. Used condition. The cotton suit is clean, but does show mildew and other stains. No holes or tears known. It has a partial snap front with a zipper bottom. The tag is quite worn but can still read 44T, possibly 44 Tall. Measurements below. The suit and helmet netting zip together nicely with no problems. The plastic helmet is marked. Made in U.S.A. Midwest Helmets. The netting overall is in nice shape. There is a hole that needs repair on the front, as shown in a photo. The netting tag states, Dadant& Sons, Inc. The gloves are in good shape and are clean. They also have stains. But no holes or tears. They are marked, Large. I would say they run small and would be a woman's size, large. UNIQUELY SHAPED AND RARE VINTAGE ANTIQUE BEE ETNA BEEKEEPING BELLOWS SMOKER
This is a uniquely shaped bee smoker. It has a rounded dome rather than an angled one. I looked at all the other listings and found no other smoker shaped this way. The round top is what caught my eye about it the first time I saw it because I see a lot of smokers in antique stores but not any rounded ones before. There is no makers mark that I found on it. The bellows is in good shape and still pliable. I think this smoker is stainless steel and the dirt that is on tends to flake off leaving a shiny surface below.
