I am unfamiliar with this meter and do not know if it is working properly. It had no batteries in it and so I put 2 new 9 volt batteries in. Please see the photos of the meter; one with switch in battery position and the other with the switch in test position with the calibrator turned on. Calibrator makes a tone when turned on and meter does read the noise level. With the calibrator on the end of the mic the meter read just over 9 in the 100 db position. With the switch in the battery position it reads only just over 2. I have no instructions or manual for use. This is sold as is and complete with all items shown plus 2 new 9 volt batteries. For your consideration is a Quest model M-7B Noise Dosimeter s/n T4022075 and model CA-32 Sound Calibrator s/n Y4020006. Also included in the auction is the calibrator adapter insert and the molded plastic carrying case. I ran a calibration of the noise dosimeter using the CA-32 as described in the user's manual. The user's manual states that the M-7B readout following the calibration should be between 1.64 and 2.15 with 1.87 being the ideal target value. I read a value of 1.92 indicating that the dosimeter and calibrator are working correctly. Sorry I do not have a hard copy of the user's manual but it may be downloaded at not cost from the internet. Quest Electronics 211A/FS Sound Level Meter For sale- a Quest Electronics 211A/FS Sound Level Meter. Typically referred to as an SPL meter, plus the CA-12 Calibrator. The batteries in the SPL meter were a bit low. One of them so much so that I won’t be shipping it with the meter. I put fresh batteries in the CA-12 and as you can see with the 211A set on 110dB it almost reads 0 which would be the desired result. If I had to guess with a fresh set of batteries in the 211A it would probably be right on the money. But I can’t preclude the possibility that it will need to be re-calibrated prior to being placed in service. So in addition to the 211A and CA-12 plus the padded case you will get 2 fresh 9 volt batteries plus one that measures a bit over 8 volts. So you will need at least one 9 volt battery and the results would no doubt be better ... moreif you had two fresh ones. The meter is untested other than as described and as pictured(the picture with the meter reading about“3” is in the Battery Check position) and NO warranty is offered. However. I acquired this Type one meter from Thompson Audiology in Yakima Washington and it had been very well maintained but Jim has retired now and the new owners of the business told me that they were now using a Type 2 Quest 215 meter without a filter to do background noise studies prior to testing. This is a common misconception only a type one meter should be used to check an area before industrial hearing testing. This unit has a built in Octave Filter and has 200 Volt polarization required for some Microphones. The micro phone pictured is not polarized but is flat out to 19K hz.The calibrator included works but needs to be rewired to common 9 Volt battery. Cosmetics-Control area is good overall. Heavy corrosion on the power input connectors. Plug that is inserted to the SLM output, and inside the capsule reading chamber. Small stress crack on the sensitivity level clear plate near the right screw. Body has dirt residue, wear, split in one of the rubber feet, and heavy paint loss on the bottom. Some smaller areas of paint loss in other places. Side body screws have green corrosion. I took a peek inside and the electronics generally look clean overall. Sound Level Meter& Calibrator These devices are both functioning. But have not been calibrated in decades. I do not know if they are functioning%100 properly. Due to my inability to fully test them. These items are being sold as-is, no returns accepted. The Calibration unit makes steady noise when powered on. It's not very loud at arms length. But is audible. The SPL meter responds differently to sound based on the DB range setting. In a manner that you would expect it to: higher DB settings make the needle respond less to the same input. Weighting seems to be working- I don't know how accurate it is. But it is functioning, with different weight settings slowing the needle down, averaging the reading out.
