Vintage general radio co. Type 1951-a (audio?) filter from RCA laboratories!
Vintage 1940's or 50's general radio co. type 1951-a filter. Has inputs for 0. 5k, 50k, 500k ohms And a switch that says either 1000c or 400c. I suspect the latter are in Hz or cps as the unit is labeled home instrument adv. dev. This came from the RCA plant in Indianapolis and was used for prototyping new designs and doing research, it was found in a large storage area full of other prototype stuff before the building was scrapped. I assume this went with a general radio audio signal generator but I am unsure. I found pdf manual for it online but eBay kindly won't let me share the link. You suck eBay! All of this stuff came from a working environment; straight off his work bench or, off a cart. I sold a majority of the items from this estate last summer and everyone who contact me through email or feedback indicated that the equipment worked; that is no guarantee that this item is fully functional. General Radio Company Sound-Survey Meter. Type 1555-A. In leather case. Case is in very good condition. There is a yellow tag attached to the strap of the leather case. It is a warning label-Do Not Expose to High Temperatures. The label was likely attached to the case when someone bought this years ago because it is from General Radio Co. Small instruction booklet fits in behind the meter in the case. It is the operating instructions booklet from General Radio Company and dated March 1960. From the operating instructions manual: It measures sound-pressure level at its microphone in terms of a standard reference level. Fundamentally. The instrument consists of a non-directional microphone, a calibrated attenuator, an amplifier, an indicating meter, and weighting networks to modify the amplifier response to conform approx. with the response ... moreof the human ear to pure tones at specified sound levels.
