Our guess is that for most efficient operation you would want to have 2 heat blocks installed when using this even if only needing the capacity provided by 1, to eliminate ... morethe exposed surface area of the heating chamber and the single block if you used only 1. Good working condition. The front touch controls work. To create a"set point" for the heater to heat the blocks to and then maintain that temperature. Test procedure: 1) Install 2 heat blocks. 2) Observe heat increasing very gradually toward the existing"set point" of 37 degrees Celsius. The closer it got to that set point. The more gradual the temperature increase became, which makes sense because you would not want to overheat a sample and only then drop back down to the intended level. 3) The unit eventually settled on a range between 36.9 and 37.2 degrees Celsius. 4) We did not keep this under constant observation but assume that is the approximate variation above and below the set point. See photo of bottom of this unit. Lab equipment in our experience is sometimes rusty or stained on the bottom. Showing it was not well taken care of and/or people were careless about cleaning it in the event of a spill.
