Starrett No. 55-4-1/2 hardened steel master precision square with beveled edges. The blade length is 4-1/2" and the beam length is 3-1/2" It's a older model and shows it's age. There is pitting and blemishes throughout the square. But the beveled edges are still straight& in rather good condition. Also, there are no significant dings or dents on them. There is a name that was lightly engraved on the front side of the beam, but I couldn't pick it up in the pics because it's been polished off mostly, but can be seen in the right light at the right angle. Vintage Starrett Machinist Square#55 W/ Beveled Edges 4 1/2" In Wood Holder This quality vintage machinist's square was made by L.S. Starrett of Athol. MA. It is a 4 1/2" stainless steel square numbered 55 with beveled edges. The tool comes in its specially made holding case made from wood and it has a brass plate at the top. The square fits in neatly. I am not certain if this was a company made holder or one made by a wood worker, but is has no marks or company names. It is clean with no damage and no names engraved on it. There is a gorgeous wood case that the square fits in. it looks good enough to be factory made, but I am not sure. It fits the case very well.
