Here is a Vintage Machine Center Head with a Lufkin 12" Rule. There is no Manufacturer's Name on the Head. There is the Lufkin name Stamped on the Rule. The rule is a No 4 Grad hardened steel rule with 1/16" 1/32" scale on one side and 1/32" 1/64" on other side. The# 490 protractor can be rotated 360 degrees.There are the initials of the previous owner engraved on the pieces. Some minor staining that should polish out. Lufkin Combination Square 12 Inch Rule Protractor Head: Toolmaker Machinist
This auction is for one Lufkin combination square set. Included is a 12 inch Lufkin rule. The combination square, and the protractor head as well as the scribe. This is a well used tool with evidence of use. Some of the paint has worn off the heads and there is some pitting and wear to the protractor edge and the square edge. This tool needs a good cleaning and a tune up and will be ready to go. I did not want to clean it myself beyond taking the dust off that has accumulated in my tool box. I was a machinist/toolmakers apprentice before going into another career. I have been selling many of my now unused and unneeded tools. I do my best to check and accurately describe everything when I list it but I am not perfect and no longer have work at a shop. For Sale: Used Starrett 12" combination square with No.4 graduations rule. The rule is excellent. Straight, no dings, shiny, and entirely legible, see my photos. The square head. Center head, and rule were acquired as a set. The protractor head is an older Starrett. Was acquired in a box lot some time ago, was filthy, has been cleaned, and does have some loss of its black finish. Its degree-lines. Numbers, and zero-line are all entirely legible and it works as-designed. The level vials are intact in both the square and protractor heads.
