In good used condition. A Starrett machinist square that consists of a 6" grad 4 slotted rule and an adjustable square head. The rule is graded in 1/8" 1/16" 1/32" and 1/64" tic marks. The rule is marked Starrett but the square head is not marked. There is a little paint on the square head. No prior owner marks on either piece. The level vial is not broken. Lufkin Combination Square 12 Inch Rule Protractor Head: Toolmaker Machinist
This auction is for one Lufkin combination square set. Included is a 12 inch Lufkin rule. The combination square, and the protractor head as well as the scribe. This is a well used tool with evidence of use. Some of the paint has worn off the heads and there is some pitting and wear to the protractor edge and the square edge. This tool needs a good cleaning and a tune up and will be ready to go. I did not want to clean it myself beyond taking the dust off that has accumulated in my tool box. I was a machinist/toolmakers apprentice before going into another career. I have been selling many of my now unused and unneeded tools. I do my best to check and accurately describe everything when I list it but I am not perfect and no longer have work at a shop. Lot Old Vintage Starrett Square Machinist Protractor Rule Pickett Slide Graphic
Please read the entire description if you are considering bidding on this item. One lot of tools to measure and fabricate with. The top item in the picture is a Starrett square in good to very good condition. The second square and attachments are also Starrett. Note the discoloration on the ruler part of the square. This is a coating of residue that will clean up much better than it looks. There is another picture that shows the other side of this same ruler and it looks much better. It had some light rust. I soaked it overnight in apple cider vinegar(saw it on TV American Restoration) and it made a difference but still needs some clean up. The other part of this square that determine angles has some light rust also(see pictures) but works fine. The next long ruler is Starrett and also needs to be cleaned up. The next square in the picture ... moreI did not find a name on. It is old and well made but I do not think Starrett. There are a few other rulers etc. please see pictures. Vintage Starrett #13A Machinist Combo Square/Center Finder w/ 6" Rule
Up for bid is what appears to be a Starrett 13A machinist combo square/center finder on a 6" steel rule. I can't find a model number on the tool but 13A is what i seen them listed under in catalogs. The square and center finder are in great shape with very nice japanning that has minor chips to it. The unpainted parts of the tools are discolored but that happens with age/use. The bubble level is intact and can be clearly read. The marking scribe is present and a tight fit so it won't just fall out someday. Everything works great but the center finder is missing one small piece. The inner spring that fits under the thumb screw is missing. It still functions the same but i don't want anybody getting surprised by that not being there. I'm sure it can be replaced but i had nothing on hand to fix it. Thank you for viewing this item. This listing is for a Union Tool Co Square with Protractor/center head. Stamped"Union Tool Co. Made In USA, Stainless, No 707" Please note someone's initials are scratched into the tool. See the pictures. Has a 12 inch ruler. Has a 180 degree rotation protractor. Also has small yellow level that works. Nice black finish. A few spots where the finish is worn. But overall it's there. Please note: there is a difference between the finish on the square piece and the other two pieces- the square piece finish still has a glossy coat on it and the ends don't. The piece fits on the rail and slides fine. However, the color difference makes be wonder if it possibly wasn't a replacement at one point or from a different rule. The nuts on each of the 3 parts appear to be a little different as ... morewell. For use. The piece will work just fine- just wanted to call these items out for any collectors out there, as I do not know if it is proper or if all the parts were original/match. A little surface rust along the back where the level is. You should be able to clean this off fairly easily. If you choose to do that. All 5 screws move easily and lock the tool into place.
