You are bidding on a Brown and Sharpe 6" No. 4 Tempered Scale with matching square and center head. There is only minor wear with paint missing near the bubble on the square where it is handled the most and a couple of small areas. The scale is clean with no owners initials and square and center head slides easily and bubble does work. They have the flat black non glare paint with no damage or defects. What a great deal! The square is in very good used condition. The level vial in the square head in functional and clear. The scribe is missing. The original black wrinkle finish is about 90% present on either head. A few nicks here and there. NO OWNER ENGRAVINGS/ETCHINGS. An excellent,accurate, antique precision square ready to use or collect! I would grade this a solid 7 on a 1-10 scale with 10 being new. Brown& Sharpe 6" bevelled edge master square model 542. This item is in great condition. I listed it as used but I have owned it new and my guess is I have used it only a couple of times. The edges still have that sharp grind feel with no scratches or nicks. From several years of storage even lightly oiled a few surface rust spots have formed. The largest being shown in the closeup photo. I'm sure a light rub with some Naval Jelly will cleanup these few areas. When I purchased this item it came in a Brown& Sharpe cardboard box so there is not the usual wood case included in this auction.

Up for auction is a very nice very barely used 6' Brown& sharpe machinist combination square& circle finder in it's original box. The square is in bright& shiny condition. there is only a couple of small stains on the metal. There is no damage. And the bubble and scribe are fine and present. The box it in good solid condition. The box shows some minor evidence of wear and tear from being shuffled around for so many years, but the box is in overall very good, solid condition. great tool to have in the tool box or a great tool to add to the brown and sharpe collection. You are bidding on a Brown& Sharpe No. 4 combination square. It has a 6" blade. It is marked Brown& Sharpe Tempered No. 4 Prov. R.I. U.S.A. on the blade. The bubble is in tact. It has the name'Ray' engraved on the blade and 1 small(what looks like a file mark) on the end to the blade. There is no scribe. Other than that it is in very good condition. Awesome vintage machinist square. One of the best tools in the world. Comes in a great wooden box. The gold gild is worn down but everything else is in great used condition. You can either have the best square in class or it could be a great gift for dad. Either way this is a treasure. I have used it for years and it was the one everyone wanted.
