The device is suitable for use in a lot of different applications thanks to the in-built 40-130dB measuring range of this sound level meter. 40dB is a level around a whisper and a normal conversation. While 130dB is around the level of a jet engine, so that's a pretty versatile range. All measurements are taken within ± 2dB with resolution of 0.1dB. Extech's 407730 uses a 0.5" 12.7mm) condenser microphone to take measurements and uses both A&C weighting. Need to keep your hands-free while testing? The Extech 407730 is also tripod mountable for ease of use. With just the press of a button you can choose between A/C weighting. Adjust whether the device uses fast/slow response time and you can also use the MAX/Hold button to display a MAX measurement or alternatively temporarily hold data on the screen.
