Residual tape adhesive and some residue inside the wells. Note in the pictures, there is a ring of deeper scratches on the bottom of the rotor. I personally tested this rotor in a Sorvall RC 5B Plus centrifuge and cranked it up to 10,000 RPM. It ran perfectly, without even a hint of balance issues.
