Here is an unknown manufacturer 4th Axis. I bought the unit because I wanted to have a spare. And one with a larger through hole(1.250" I took the unit down to its bare components and cleaned and inspected everything. No makers marks are to be found anywhere. Not even on components inside. This is circa 1982. And I suspect it is Japanese or German made. Fasteners are metric, bearings inside are US made Timkin. The worm and screw are FLAWLESS. this unit was dirty when I got it. But shows no signs of abuse. The internals are perfect. This unit IS adjustable for wear. The screw can be lowered down onto the worm gear and a shim stack(built this way intentionally to make up for wear-of which I can find NONE) can be modified to seat the screw deeper into the worm if needed. When I put the unit back together. I did not change the shim stack. ... moreThe unit has no perceptable backlash, and I try not to fix something that is not broken. I compared this unit to my Peiselier(german made) 4th Axis. And They are both equally tight. This table is a great 4th Axis. I Put on a new 1400oz stepper. And built a motor mount. The belt is a 1/1 ratio timing belt and I built in a ball bearing adjuster to take any play out of the belt. the adjuster took me the better part of a day to design and build) I power this unit with a G203V Geckodrive and it runs excellent. Geckodrive not included. I need the money more than I need a spare 4th Axis right now. So up for sale it goes. I will be happy to demo this unit for a potential buyer. This unit is both horizontal and vertical. I have the brake components(internal) but I did not reinstall them as I never have needed to run a brake on my 4th axis's. CNC 4th Axis Rotary Table/Indexer for Taig Mill w/ NEMA 17, 1.8A Stepper Motor
This is a small rotary axis I made. The mounting plate has holes on 1-inch centers for the Taig mill table. Although by modifying the mounting plate it could probably go on pretty much any mill. It uses a 1.8A NEMA 17 stepper motor for motion. It can take 3" chucks with an adapter. Most recently I used the Taig chuck with their mill table adapter. The pulleys and belt are 1/4" MXL(080 pitch) as Follows: Small Pulley 36T Large Pulley 130T Belt 160T A tail stock is included for use with Short#2 Morse Tapers such as are used for the Chinese mini lathes(7x10 etc. And are available from The Little Machine Shop online. As an example of what it can do. This rotary axis was used to cut the teeth on the 36T pulley currently in use. It works quite well and is very solidly built, but it is not fast. It's unlikely you'll ever see more ... morethan a few RPM out of it. It works great for indexing and milling, but is not fast enough for turning. Steps per degree are as follows(130/36) x 50 x 200)360 = 100.309 steps/deg. This does not account for micro-stepping. Which is a function of your driver. Included are the rotary axis w/ motor. Tail stock, and whatever design files I can find. Not included: chuck centers motor cable mounting bolts t-nuts chuck adapter any electronics Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
