This is a vintage W.M. Welch Scientific Co. laboratory rheostat. It is in good condition. Do not know enough about it to comment on working condition but all appears intact. This unit is marked at 85 ohms and 2.2 amps. Appears to be in excellent physical condition with the exception of the remaining adhesive where a state inventory tag was removed. As with most used items there are some scratches and other signs of use but nothing that is distracting.
