But it needs some TLC before it can be used as a reliable standard. Most of the resistance settings return reasonably close values(within 5% to the expected amount when read with a multimeter. However. Several positions, especially on the X1 and X10 bank, give readings that are off by a significant amount. On the 0. 1, and 2 settings, the indicated value is several times the expected value. We are reasonably certain that the cause of this is oxidation on the contacts. As working the knob rapidly back and forth will lower the indicated resistance closer to the expected values. However. There is always the possibility of unreliable components being the cause. Up for auction is a General Radio Company Decade Resistor Model Type 1432-J; steps are 1 ohm 800 ma max. 10 ohms 250 ma max, 100 ohms 80 ma max, and 1000 ohms 23 ma max. Checked using analog meter and all resistance steps changed the reading accordingly. No frozen knobs. Someone being carried away with paint sprayer got the top I think or maybe this is just the color it is. Inside very clean.
