SUNN 15" Speaker Model 915E From SUNN PA Cabinet 8 OHMS With Cloth Suspension
Up for auction is this 15" SUNN speaker Model 915 E removed from a SUNN PA Cabinet Model SPL 8815. This was removed from a club in Southern California about 15 years ago and the cabinet with the speaker in it was sitting in my garage for the past 14 Years. The back label says MADE IN U. S. A. BY SUNN MUSICAL EQUIPMENT COMPANY. The label also reads 8 OHMS. The cone is good with it's cloth suspension and there is no drag in the magnet structure. The silver dome is a bit dirty but cleanable. The front side of the cone for about 3 or 4 inches has some dust on it but with a soft paint brush will clean up easily. The frame of this speakers looks like an older EV and might just be a relabeled EV speaker. I do not know if SUNN actually made their own speakers. The frame. Magnet and the entire speaker are very heavy. The frame is not a stamped ... moremetal frame but looks to be cast. Judging by the size of the voice coil and magnet, I would guess this speaker to be good for somewhere between 300 and 400 watts RMS. I have another identical SUNN cabinet in storage but the speaker doesn't appear from the outside to be the same as this one. The speaker in storage does NOT have a silver dome. It is possible that speaker is a mate to this one and was possibly re-coned by someone that didn't have a silver dome. I will pull the mating cabinet out of storage in the next few days. There was an adhesive repair; however, the extent of the adhesive on the front of the cone is misleading. The repair was actually to a pin-sized hole as you can see from the photo showing the small blob of adhesive on the back of the cone inside the basket. It has no effect whatsoever on the sound of the speaker. I used this speaker in one of my’64 Vibroverbs for several years before re-installing the original CTS speaker. This JBL sounds terrific and works flawlessly—no rub. No cone cry or other issues. JBL-D130F 15" 16 ohms - Serial# 1272 - Ultra Vintage Alnico Fidelity
JBL-D130F 15" 16 ohms In the 1950's and 60's. The James B. Lansing Company of California made the D130F for Leo Fender, who had a guitar and amplifier company, also located in California. I'm not certain how old this one is. Or if it's been re-coned. Serial#1272 if that's of any help. There's a small repair, at the outer edge of the cone that predates my ownership. Functionally, it's of no consequence, and bring it to your attention only as a matter of full disclosure. I've owned and used it for electric guitar for 8-10 years, and it has performed flawlessly. I own a few, and I since they're getting a little harder to find these days, I thought I'd give someone else the pleasure. This is a an efficient, high fidelity speaker, that I've used with a dozen different amps. It made all of them sound ... morebetter and louder. A learned and generous eBayer. More informed than myself on all vintage JBL matters, took the time to send me the following information that may shed some light on authenticity of the cone of this D130F: thanks for the reply. Up for auction is a pair of 10 inch Rola speakers. These speakers are Rola brand clones of Jensen P10Rs and sound very similar. These speakers are rated for 15-20 watts and 8 ohms. There is some rust and corrosion as well as some scratches on the metal housing but otherwise these speakers are in great condition. One speaker does appear to have gotten wet previously. Leaving a water mark on the speaker cone. This has not affected the sound quality of the speaker. There are no tears or scratches on the speakers cones. Assembled from an orphaned 2130 magnet structure and a D140F frame. Coil(copper ribbon wire) and suspension same as the D140F/K140/E140. 2220 smooth cone and a 4 inch JBL paper dome dust cap. 250-300 watts. Recently I built two 15's in 4 ohms for my Ampeg combo, this one and an Ampeg-CTS square magnet 15. I tried the CTS first, and I'll not take it out, I'm that pleased, and it is an Ampeg branded speaker. So this un-used, brand new rebuild is for sale. As you can see, the JBL I'm offering here was coned in the fashion of a speaker you would expect to find in a vintage Ampeg bass amp, smooth cone and paper dust cap. For sale is a rare. Vintage 15" CTS speaker with a 6" square magnet(model#s: 5815029, 137 733, BG-70-RM) rated 8 ohms and has a 2" voice coil. It is from the 1960's and came from an Ampeg Gemini bass amp. Excellent condition; the cone and surround are perfect and the terminals and wires leading to the voice coil are strong and intact. With no signs of tears. Works great.

1967 Jensen EM1501 15" Concert Series speaker, 8 ohms, ceramic magnet, NR!!
Here is a Jensen Concert Series EM1501 15" speaker. Date coded 1967. Has a ceramic magnet, 1.75" voice coil at 8 ohms, and an original ribbed, curved seam cone. My guess is that it can handle 50 watts, but I'm not sure. Cosmetically the bell cover looks like its been through the war, with plenty of paint chips. And the frame has residue from duct tape here and there, but is solid and straight. The cone is in great condition-still flexible-and looks to have plenty of life left in her. From what I know the Concert Series were quality speakers meant for use in hi-fi systems. PA's and home organs. But I don't know if they were ever supplied as original equipment in guitar amps. However, this one sounds great for guitar!
