A Vintage Penn Sea Boy No. 85 Level-Wind Fresh/Saltwater Fishing Reel w/Bakelite Body and The"Angler" St. Clair Michigan, Model No. 700 5(4-1/2 Feet) Fiberglass"Whipping" One-Piece Fishing Rod with Wooden Handle. The reel is very clean and in excellent condition. The Bakelite body is shiny and damage free. The chrome parts are clean and shiny. Everything works. No damage or missing parts. Still has some black dacron line on the spool although I don't know how many yards. The rod is in overall excellent condition for its age. The fiberglass blank, wrappings, wood handle and aluminum reel seat are all in great shape. For those of you that are not familiar with"whipping" it involves anchoring upstream ... moreof a group of fish, slowly letting multiple lures drift back in the current in front of them, whipping the rod quickly upstream, then releasing more line to let the lures drift back again. It is a simple, easy fishing method requiring very little tackle and expense. Whipping was almost exclusive to the St. Clair River in Michigan, but its tactic could be applied to other river fisheries. Original whipping rods were made from broken musky rods upon which anglers fixed new tips. The results were short, stout rods capable of whipping a heavy weight and multiple lures through the water. The popularity of whipping grew so tremenedously that several companies in the St. Clair Michigan region began making rods specifically for the fishing technique. This is one of the local rods made by a company that is no longer in business. For whipping, a level-wind reel is a must for complete control of line release. Some anglers prefer a line counter reel for even more control, although it is not absolutely necessary. Overall this rod and reel combo is in great condition! See photos for more details. BRYSON STREAM MASTER FLOAT REEL FAMOUS VINTAGE STEELHEAD REEL NM CONDITION
Vintage Bryson Stream Master center pin float reel. Considered one of the best fishing float reels ever made and highly prized around the great lakes region for the few lucky steelheaders that may still own them. I bought this originally in Thornbury Ontario in the early nineties and it cost about 550 Canadian even back then, this is no cheap reel and really none of this type are. I have only used it a half dozen or so times in total on infrequent visits and only there accounting for why the reel is in near perfect condition with only one tiny ding noted and closely photographed as can be seen, otherwise nary a scratch on it. The reel fishes perfectly and it is as smooth as silk, milled from solid aluminum and when you spin it, it can spin for minutes, it's amazing actually. The original carrying case is also included as shown. This one has been used, but is in excellent mechanical condition. This reel is just like the 625-LW, but is all stainless steel. The calculated spool capacity is 490 yds, 20# which falls between a Penn 209 and 309. These are well-made reels that can give a lifetime of service with proper care. 2 VINTAGE HEDDON ITEMS - REEL PAL P41 REEL and DAISY HEDDON SALED
For sale today is a lot of HEDDON fishing items. I've been fishing a handful of times in my life and I really don't know too much about this item. What I do know is that they look old and they look like they may have some good fish mojo- looks like they caught quite a few. The handles that are used to turn the reel appear to be in good working order. There is string on the reels. They turn very easily and I heard the clicking. There are also some buttons that I don't know about on both reels. There is some paint wear on the reels. One is labeled Pal P-41 and the other is unlabeled. I don't clean these vintage items anymore because when I was brand new at this I ruined a very expensive piece trying to spiff it up. So.the dirt and dust is FREE. No charge at all.Condition is so often in the eyes of the beholder. I can believe ... morethat something is in terrible condition and you can think it's average. Fishing Reel Case/Cover - Leather "Boot Style" - Vintage
This reel case is quite rare. Made of leather and has a great working zipper and a canvas tie to tighten around the protruding fishing rod. Some research indicates these were probably made in the 1930's to the 1950's. It is 12" long from"heel to toe" 5" wide and 8" high. When used, the rod handle would be down in the"toe" the casting reel down in the heel/arch area with the rod protruding out through the small, tie assisted top opening.
