It is in Good Functional and Good Cosmetic Shape. Chrome plating has some wear to it but looks good. Some spots to the sidewall of the spool and lighter wear to posts. Seat, crank and star. Plates are in good shape with some normal wear from age. In all a good looking vintage reel as seen exactly in photos. The super-sized and zoom-able photos show the reel for your close inspection. This Ocean City 981E True Temper does work quite well. Very nicely and all function is there. C ranks quite nice and has a good solid anti-reverse. Drag has slightly narrow range but works well smooth and strong and clutch works nicely. Freespool works very good and smooth and has a good working clicker and clicker switch. Some cosmetic wear but a good solid vintage collectable piece in good working shape ready to fish or collect alike. Up for Sale: 2 Vintage Bakelite Saltwater Fishing Reels. The one on the left is marked Sea-Scout with no other markings/stampings. Bakelite housing overall good condition with light moderate signs of wear/usage. Very small amount of corrosion at the spool connectors. Looks like minimal surface contained to a small area. The reel action is smooth, a tad tight, and the clicker option works as well. Not sure if there was a star lever drag but there is no present drag system. Reel spins freely either way. Plenty of life left. The other is a Ocean City Mfg. Co. Model 250. There is a badge that states Made fr R.H. Macy& Co. by Ocean City Mfg. Bakelite condition identical to above. Some minor light surface rusting on inside spindle faces, looks like it should come off easily.
