This nice looking old reel is a model 1953 Pflueger Skilkast fishing reel. It comes with its original cloth bag. The original box, a steel tool and a bunch of paperwork( instructions) I bet this was a high end reel when it was new as each side of the reel has a fancy engraved design on it. This reel has been used, but it was well taken care of and everything seems to works as it should. The condition is very good. It's a little dirty and there may be a small scratch or two, nothing major. I did not try to clean it or polish it, but I'm sure it will clean up and look great. The box is well worn and smells just a slight bit musty, but it is complete. The top of the box is separated from a couple of sides of the box. No reserve on this nice old reel. But it came with an estate sale tackle box purchase with a bunch of tackle from the 1930's, so I'm guessing this reel is of the same era if not a little bit earlier. This auction is for an old and very unusual mechanical fishing gaff. It is in working condition. I have shown the gaff in both the set and unset position in the photos. This one is really different than those commonly seen. The gaff is closed when the long handle is squeezed. The length is 19 1/2" long when closed. It is not marked anywhere that I can see and the condityion is as seen with normal signs of age and use including loss of the plating and corrosion. Lots of leading on this early 20s Uniqua. Single Check. I bought this in spring. The pawl post was a little loose. I sent to Mr Bill Archuleta- one of the best vintage fly reel restorers today. He replaced post. I also asked him to provide me with a spare spring and a spare pawl(included in auction) This reel is ready to fish. I never ended up lining it. Initials are inscribed on side of reel and bottom of reel foot. See front plate photo. PMD is visible, and PMD is inscribed a 2nd time on front plate, but so lightly it can barely be seen. On bottom of foot, so light can barely be seen. The heavy PMD on side plate is into the leading only. Pillar area has some line rub, see photo.
