Antique Hand Hewn Wooden Log Drum Deerskin Top Camp Roosevelt Perry Ohio
What a neat old drum! We acquired this fantastic drum at an auction that was disposing of the remnants from the owner's home on the grounds of the Roosevelt Boy's Camp in Perry. Ohio. Due to the death of the Camp owner this past April, Bill Lorimer, the camp has closed down and the family was cleaning out the old brick homestead and some of the items from the camp. The camp was run by the family since 1918. This drum is carved out and hollowed from a single log and has a deer skin top. There is even a little hair shown on the side intact. This was probably the camp drum and oh the stories it might tell! I can just imagine it being used to call the happy campers to the fire. You can tell that it was once painted with some of bands of decoration around it though those have long since been worn away. What a neat drum and a fantastic ... morepiece of memorabilia! 1950's GREAT COLLECTIBLE! AMERICAN LOGS HALSAM HEWN SENIOR SIZE LOG TOY CANISTER
Up for auction is an amazing vintage child's game/toy from the 1950's! It is a tin canister full of wooden American Logs. It is by"Halsam Hewn" and made in the USA. It says"Senior Size 3/4" Logs" and"Set No. 815 Contents 103 Pieces" The paper decal on the canister does have several places in which it has come off. There are some small stains here and there on the decal but for its age this is to be expected. It is full to the brim of the logs so it appears that most are present. The lid and bottom have a few rust spots. I did include close up pictures of all the things just mentioned to show details. It measures 13" tall and about 6.5" wide. This is an early 1800's hand hewn dog trot log house that will be numbered and dismantled. Delivery is available or pick up yourself. The dimensions are 38'x15' with each log pen being 15'x15' with an 8' space between them. The house is 1 1/2 story tall and has heart pine and oak flooring throughout. The bottom two courses of logs are oak all around and the rest is pine. The logs are in excellent condition with only a few needing to possibly be replaced or repaired. An Oak and Chestnut cabin and a second cabin bought just for the logs. Both the cabin and the logs are from structures that were originally sited in Western North Carolina dating from mid to late 1800s. Two structures for sale. 1) The pictured cabin is dog trot consisting of a 16'x20' 1.5 story section and a 14'x16' 1 story section(see floor plan) originally purchased for $22.500. Logs are 12- 14" face and 7- 8" thick. 2) Second cabin included is not pictured. But consists of a set of 20'x30' of extra logs to expand and augment the listed cabin. It measures roughly 18' 8" x 20' 8" It has German style dovetailed corners. Hewn logs, hewn rafters, hewn floor joists and substantial flooring. Typical log faces range from 12" to over 16" The cabin has been professionally dismantled, double tagged and log location drawings and photographs have been produced. Hand hewn logs from Ozarks log barn
This is an early to mid 1800's log barn that was covered by a conventional barn around 1900. Located in the Missouri Ozarks. Logs are hand hewn oak approximately 6-10 inches in diameter. There are two sections approximately 18ft x 18ft square and 14 logs high. One side of the log barn has been exposed and several logs are rotten. But three sides have remained covered and logs are in great shape. Some of the original shaker shingles that have been covered with tin is now exposed. Price is for entire barn both log and conventional. Will take a decent offer for whole or parts. The barn has not been dismantled as of yet.
