104 Antique Reclaimed Hand Hewn and Pit Sawn Barn Beams
This listing is for 104 reclaimed barn beams as detailed in the list below. These beams have been stored in the barn in the background of the pictures for the last 25 years. They were reclaimed from several different barns in the late 80's and early 90's. They range in size from two center beams that are 10" x 12" and 34 feet long down to a top plate that is 5" x 6" and 15 feet long. We needed to clean out the barn in a hurry so we had to move them outside. That is why we need to sell them quickly before they start to rot. We estimate that 80% of the beams are hard woods and 20% are pine. There is about a 50/50 mix of Hand Hewn and Pit Sawn beams. There is a total of approximately 1.900 running feet and over 10,000 board feet. This large amount of beams will require a tractor trailer to haul them away. The winner ... moreof the auction must be able to provide a flatbed trailer onsite for a week in Bucks County Pennsylvania to allow us to load them on the trailer. This is an all or nothing auction. We will not sell individual beams. Note that Hewn barn beams are beams that are cut and shaped with an axe and date to the 1800′s or earlier. Pit Sawn beams date between the early 1800's up to the turn of the 20th century and have a smoother finish. But you can still see the original saw marks. The marks left by the saw are irregular, uneven cuts made from the strokes of the large saw used by two men. One man stood in a pit and the other man stood on top of the log above the pit sawing the log between them. The men's changing hand and body positions caused the irregular cuts. Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions about the beams or pickup. Hand Hewn Barn Beams And Old Barn Flooring Package Deal
I am restoring an old barn and have some old beams and flooring for sale. The barn received all new floor joists so the old hand hewn beams are for sale. Currently they have white wash on them because the barn was previously used for dairy cows. These can easily be cleaned with a pressure washer. Also all the floor boards from the old floor are for sale. They are roughly 2" thick and random lengths. I would like to sell all the wood as one lot. Come look at it and make me an offer. I have equipment to load it onto your trailer. 30 plus beams as seen in the ad that are mostly oak and some hickory. A lot of these beams are 35-42 ft long. Some shorter ones as well. They probably average 8 x 10in cross section. 40 plus floor boards that are 2 x 12-14 x 20 ft long. I believe they are some sort of Pine. 100 plus floor boards that are 1 x ... more10-12 x 16ft long.
