Deep carved Oak. The square arm part is approximately 2-1/4" tall x just over 2-1/4" wide. The end Claw Foot part is about 4" tall x 4" wide. This is about 22-3/4" long. This does have a couple of nails still in, I dont want to hurt piece trying to take them out, will be sold with them in. Please be careful when opening package. Rustic. Salvaged, architectural post. Oak construction and guaranteed to be from Victorian era. It is an octagon shape with widening, beveled trim platform at the top. Attached to rail on one of the 8 sides only. Very flexible piece can be used in lots of ways. It measures 37 1/8 inches tall and 9 1/4 inches across top. Structurally 100% sound. We believe these to be made of oak. But we are not experts. They are a salvage item from an 1800s farmhouse stairway; some have nails in them and there is some remaining paint on them. This lot salvaged from an 1880's Brownstone includes fou r newel posts. Three railings 114" 100" and 80" long. There are 30 thirty inch tall spindles/balusters(stair railings) and 13 twenty six inch tall spindles/blausters(landing railing) I have included a photo where I easily scratched off the paint to show the natural color and grain. Which appears to be oak. Part of the lot was for the stair railing, the rest for the landing railing. I will also send 2 or 3 other spindles which were broken. Antique Victorian Oak Stair & Hall Railing Spindles Trim Carved Style Ornate
LOCAL PICKUP ONLY This stair and rail system is one of the most unique and striking examples of victorian wood working I have ever seen! All original. Taken from a large farm house built in the mid 1800's. Made of Oak, it has an original light coat of varnish remaining. It consists of three sections; The back hall; the side hall; and the stairs. The back hall has a rail that measures 45 1/2 inches long. The spindles measure 28 1/2 inches tall and are attached by means of pins, holes, and grooves, there were almost no nails used. The side hall rail measures 9 ft 5 inches, has 11 spindles spaced apart 10 inches on center. The post that connects the side and back rails measures 39 1/2 inches tall. The stair rail measures 14 ft 6 inches long with 14 spindles measuring 26 inches tall.All the pieces are pegged and slotted to fit perfectly into ... moreeach other. The oak rail measures 3 3/4th inches tall and is 2 1/4th inches wide with a groove at the bottom to accept the spindles. The posts have some damage and need to be worked on. There are a few trim pieces for below the stair treads that could be used as patterns, I have not cleaned or altered this item and am selling in the original as found condition. these are in nice shape they have a little weather but the wood in not punky they do have nails. top and bottom are from a stair case and the corner post is complete the extra piece gave extra support. this is a very nice bunch. These came out of a house that was built in 1920 and they were going to burn it down. if a dimension is critical ask me to double check i can make a mistake i have made one so please ask. if you do not ask i have plus or minus inches 3.5" thanks for understanding. if you need ask a question and i will do my best to answer it.
