Baluster-shaped Jar With Lid Hunter Deer Persia Iran
This is a substantial tinned copper storage jar. With snugly fitting lid which has a ring finial. The jar is flattened to two sides, and on each of these is a scene with a mounted man in high conical head-dress, apparently slashing wildly with his sword at a group of gazelles. The scene continues with more gazelles around the middle of the jar. The rest of the jar is decorated with lightly raised scales, each of which contains a leafy scroll, all against a punch-marked background. The whole was tinned: some of this tinning has been worn away, but otherwise an impressive and skilfully decorated item, in excellent condition. Some 32cm. high including lid. Persia? 19th century. Here is a fantastic antique 19thC. turned and paint decorated finial or baluster? This wonderful architectural element would make a great decorative centerpiece. It has a beautiful form with worn painted surface. It was made from 2 pieces of wood. The lower section with the turned and incised rings and the upper section with the round dish design and the shaped pedestal top. The piece is about 18" tall X 13" wide. Listed is a beautiful. Circa 1875, antique wood porch baluster, or railing piece. These balusters have many uses. The pieces are all the same, but if you turn them on different sides, you can achieve a different look. The approx size of each is: 20" tall, 2 3/4 on one top or bottom, and 2 7/8" on the other side. A Glossy grey/white celadon glaze is painted underglaze with grape vines in rich tones of reddish brown iron oxide. It is signed with a 2 character mark in underglaze blue and there are bits of sand adhered to the inside of the foot rim. I'm no expert on Asian ceramics. But the shape appears to be more like Korean Baluster vases than Chinese. The light celadon glaze color with iron oxide decoration is also much like Chosun pieces I found on line. If I'm wrong with my attribution, I would appreciate knowing. Size- A Very Large Vase. STUNNING HAEGER AMERICAN ART POTTERY LARGE ROYAL BLUE BALUSTER JAR VASE MINTY
Up for auction is a Marked. Haeger Potteries, Incorporated of(East) Dundee, Illinois(Haeger Industries 1871 to Present) American Art Pottery, Baluster Vase or Jardiniere with a Royal Blue Glaze Application in"Near-Mint" Used Condition, Mid-Century Modern, Circa Mid-1970s to Possibly the Early 1980s. This stunning Haeger vase has no chips. Cracks, glaze crazing, scratches, scuffs, stains or repairs of any kind. Although it was used this vase was well cared for so I've graded it as being in"Near-Mint" condition because there's still some residue from florist's tape which I removed from the inside bottom of the piece. I did my best to remove it and please keep in mind the residue is on the inside of the vase where it can't be seen. This vase also has a factory flaw which consists of a small missed glazed spot. ... moreI took two pictures of the flaw with one being a close up view. In picture 11 you can see the missed glazed spot close up and then picture 12 gives you a profile picture so you can see just where the factory flaw is within a profile setting. I took these two pictures with my flash for the best results and in each picture the missed glaze spot is directly below the glare of the flash. Admittedly my camera isn't the best of the best so it changes the color of the vase by using the flash. But I assure you it's the same piece and the other profile pictures are true to color. Picture 7 looking down into the vase is also a slightly different in color because I used the flash again to capture both the top rim and to show you just how clean the inside of the vase is. I also need to mention that the beautiful Royal Blue glaze was applied thick so there are a couple of vary faint runs on the outside. But you have to have this vase close to your eyes in bright lighting to find them. Of course this too is a factory flaw which has been there since the vase was removed from the Haeger kilns. Early 18th c Georgian English Blown Heavy Baluster Champagne or Sweetmeat Glass
You are bidding on a nice 18th c blown heavy baluster sweetmeat or champagne glass from around the 1720-30's that stands about 6 5/16" high. Bowl is 4" across and foot is 3 5/16" Has a rough pontil. It has an angular knop and a domed foot. It has an old collection sticker that says"English Circa 1735" on it. There is a small scratch near the lip of the bowl. I tried to show it in picture#7, not very noticable but wanted to mention it. A few other very tiny marks and the usual imperfections found in early glass. There is a v shaped gap on the stem where the stem meets the bowl(see picture#8) that was done when connecting the stem and bowl together, it is not a chip. Other than that it is in perfect shape. It rings like a bell when tapped. Would make a very nice addition to any collection. Antique Japanese Oriental Bronze baluster Vase Bird Tree Meji Cast 19th century
This handsome 12 1/8” tall x 5 ½” wide vase has a 4 5/8” top and 3 5/8” diameter foot. It has a traditional baluster form with high relief applied details of a bird and tree with hand chased details and dates from the late 1800s. The surface has been polished with scant traces of old patina in the details and there are bends in the top rim as well as dents in the foot. I can find no maker’s marks. An awesome BLACK walnut stair spindle set with HUGE newel post. Salvaged from a circa 1880 home near SHARON SPRINGS NY- this set has a great set of spindles- they measure 31" high x 1 7/8" square- there are approx. 45 spindles. There is ONE broken spindle- in two pieces- can be repaired! The railing is three sections- one is 77" long- this is the straight piece that ends into the Newel. The second piece is 76" long and has a turn in it for the top of the stairs. The third section is a 90 degree angled piece with sections that are 46& 47" long after the curve. This would have been for the hall area at the top of the stairs. The railings are 4.5" wide. SOLID! The newel post is 42" high- it is 6.75" diameter on the base& a 8" diameter measurement across the top. There is a 4.5" long piece ... morethat would have been below the floor! They are in very good sound condition however they require having their finish restored. They are sturdy and make quite a statement. They are intended for indoor use. Well crafted with a large central scene of a dragon& phoenix chasing the flaming pearl and other scenes including the inside frame showing both dragons and phoenixes. Beautiful well painted colors are red. Orange, green, blue black and copper. Made for export around 40 to 60 years ago(1950 to 1970) with copper wires. The back bottom has a partial reproduced dynasty mark which resembles closely the 1900 Qing Emperor Guangxu Reign mark. In very good condition with hardly any outside wear. Well potted to a baluster form, with a tapering ovoid body, a trumpet neck, and a flared support, below a relief concentric band. The sides are painted by hand in underglaze cobalt blue, to depict foliate scrolls, two scroll cartouche, and a lotus pattern border around the support. The iron red overglaze depicts lotus flowers and scrolling tendrils, highlighted in gilt. Unmarked. This vase measures 19.6 cm in height and 8.4 cm in width. It weighs 473 grams. Penn Antique Restoration. 60"H Antique Victorian Cherry Pilaster. Charming. Antique, pilaster(half post) salvaged from an old home in Northeastern Pennsylvania. The piece is made of solid cherry, and has an unusual design consisting of 2 chamfered edges and 3 concave sides. The edges and sides taper at the top and all come together at a central point. There is a spectacular, carved floral motif on all 3, concave sides, at the top. On the opposite end, there is a smaller, more compact floral motif. This pilaster was installed against a wall. At the top of a landing. There was a matching newel post installed at the top of the stair case, which connected to this pilaster by a straight handrail. We are offering the post in another auction. There is a chance that we may have the original handrail, or at least one that could be used-email ... moreus for more info. The upper motif on the front side. Was cut short(about 2" slightly at the bottom. It was trimmed in order to cut a mortise(hole) for the handrail. If you like, we could patch/plug the mortise-email us for a quote.
