I haven't cleaned this piece, but it looks to be able to wash easily and bring back luster if one should so chose. An example of a'fire grenade' bottles such as this were originally filled with flame retardant chemicals. In the event a fire. The user would grab the bottle and'throw' it at the flames, glass breaking to extinguish the fire. Bottle appears to be mold blown. A nice example with no chips or cracks. This is a Dri-Gas Fire Extinguisher that was made by The Dri-Gas Fire Extinguisher Co. of Chattanooga. Tenn. The extinguisher comes with a metal mount to attach the fire extinguisher to the wall. The glass insert portion of the fire extinguisher measures 11" long. The directions on the bottom tell you throw contents forcibly at base of fire by quick swinging motions. The fire extinguisher is in good condition with no chips or cracks. This is a nice early fire extinguisher.

Antique Shur Spray 1 Gallon Glass Fire Extinguisher
This auction is for a one gallon glass fire extinguisher manufactured by the International Fire equipment Corporation of Staten Island NY. It was called the Shur-Spray. When filled with a chemical. These were hung in various locations, probably high, near the ceiling. This appears to have a lead link on top that would have melted in high heat conditions allowing the chemical to extinguish the fire. This piece is dirty but in otherwise good condition with no chips or cracks. A small section of the original label is missing. It has metal bands around it for hanging purposes. It is approximately 17" long and 5 1/2" in diameter.

RARE Old Antique Fire Extinguisher Grenade Bottle Green Clear Aqua Glass
4" High x 3 1/2" Wide Interesting example of a late 19th. Early 20th century fire grenade bottle in typical round formation with a series of outside linear designs. It was commonplace during the period to have an item such as this readily available in the case of a fire. The bottle would have originally been filled with various chemicals and flame retardants. The user would simply grab the bottle and throw it at the opposing flames. The glass intern would shatter releasing the chemicals therein. As you can see this example has a beautiful aqua marine color. It is of course empty. But was likely originally sealed with a cork. We tried it under a UV light to see if it reacts. And the visible green does light, but not as much as others we have seen. Please see all the images for condition and specifics. This is a scarce Hardens No. 2 diamond quilted cobalt blue glass fire extinguisher measuring 5.2" tall. It is still sealed but contains only salt water inside. This glass fire extinguisher does have some chips around the spout rim only but as stated it is still sealed and has a partial paper label affixed to the outside. Antique Arts And Crafts Copper Fire Extinguisher Lamp Handmade Tin & Glass Shade
This is a great old table lamp made from a small copper fire extinguisher. The extinguisher itself measures 10-3/4 inches tall and 4-1/2 inches in diameter at the base. There is some discoloration from a label but the label was removed when the lamp was made. The original socket is an old Leviton with bakelite switch. Because the old cord was frayed it has been fitted with a new cord that is a little over 8 feet long. This shade appears to have been made just for the lamp and is in the great arts and crafts style. It is handcrafted. Made of tin with little cutouts for colored glass marbles. Check out the pictures of the inside of the shade- it's really ingenious. The shade measures 6 inches tall and 10 inches in diameter at the bottom. It has been stained to look like copper but is not. Both lamp and shade have a wonderful patina. The ... moreonly cleaning I did was with some glass cleaner on the glass marbles. Weight of lamp and shade is 3 pounds and 12 ounces. There are some small dents in the extinguisher, but overall this old lamp and shade make a great display. For auction I have a set of four target/fire balls with colored water in them( for ebay and the nice person that keeps flagging this) The balls are in excellent condition. 1 is empty do to the cork being loose. I see no chips or cracks. all corks are very old and look to be brittle. the leather strap and tower display are in good shape. They are from the estate of a my grandpa. NOT POSITIVE that this bottle is a Fire Grenade but the style of the shape and design look like one to me. It has some good age to it as far as glass goes. It is yellow flashed glass- has some lose but overall it still looks yellow. MINOR DAMAGE- has kind of a burn dark mark on the rim and a couple points in one around show lose but they are quite smooth to the touch- going to call them damage but may be from the making. RARE! Chicago Northwestern Railroad Early Glass Fire Extinguisher
Here is a hard-to-find piece of railroadiana from long ago. It is a glass bottle fire extinguisher(chemical is long gone) in pretty good condition. The only issue is the hairline in the thick collar. This runs around the circumference of the collar and is solid. I have shown a close-up of one side of this crack. But it goes around about 3/4 of the collar. It does not enter into the bottle portion. The mouth has been plugged but has a hole in the center. There is a"water-line" shown as well on the inside(not damaged) The embossed lettering"C.NW. Ry. is shown on the side. Length is 17.25" and it is about 2.75" in diameter. Buyer pays shipping in the USA only.

Offered as pictured is a lot of 6 each of Fire Extinguisher bottles(empty of contents) with milk glass tops bottles measure 4 1/4" tall and base is 1 5/8" cap 1 3/4" across All pieces are in good condition with no cracks or chips On base of each bottle is imprinted"AMER LA FRANCE FE CO EMIRA NY" AND around middle of bottle is imprinted PATENT. I have other bottles listed and would be happy to combine shipments. I know very little about this items but have not ever seen the caps listed with bottles in Ebay.
