Antique 1850's English Brass Firestop Fire Stop Firedog Vintage Old Nouveau Iron
Recently purchased from the estate of a local doctor and history unknown. An antique English Brass Firestop Circa 1850. At first I thought it was a handle of some sort, but after some research believe it was used to rest hot fireplace tools on. Not positive on that though. I believe it was purchased around fifty years ago from a antique store in Lawrence Kansas called Au Marche. The original tag from that store is still attached. I have no doubt this thing is around 150-170 years old. The only markings are"F.C" on the under side. See pictures for condition and feel free to ask questions.
