It can be used in outdoor and/or hazardous environments. This device was installed in a silane bunker for 2 years and we recently decommissioned the bunker. VTG Bronze Federal Signal Air Fire Whistle Horn Siren Southampton Town Hall NY
I picked this up at an estate sale in Southampton. NY which is located on the south fork on the east end of Long Island. The gentleman I bought this from told me it came off the old Southampton Town Hall building which was across the street from his office. He mentioned that he heard the whistle go off every day. It is quite heavy, about 41 lbs before packaging. The back section is made of cast bronze or brass and the horn looks to be of heavy gauge pressed bronze. I did try it with my small compressor but it didn’t make any noise. I think it needs more air power than I have at my disposal. It measures 16” long and the horn opening is 11” across. It is 12” across the back diameter. The cast metal back of the whistle screws off. There are two brass or bronze flat plates that lay on a milled edge of the back of the horn. I think the air flowing ... morebetween the plate and the lip makes the noise. It looks to be complete and in fine condition with no damage that I can see. It has been painted long ago with a brown paint. I didn’t try to remove it as I will leave that to the new owner. Maybe someone has a memory of this whistle or perhaps a photo to share. 19" Fire Truck Chrome Resonating Horn, Federal Signal Corp Model 58 Tested Siren
This is a resonating horn that was mounted on a fire truck. And was manufactured by the Federal Signal Corporation. The plate reads: 12 volts, 8 amps, model 58, and serial no. B1. This is an all self contained electric horn and needs no air supply. I had my mechanic check this horn out at his garage and it does work, I heard it, and it is loud. It is about 19 inches long, 6 1/2 inches wide at the housing, 5 1/4 inches at the bell end, and 8 1/2 inches from the housing to the bottom of the mounting bracket. This horn is very heavy, almost 9 pounds. I have a copy of the instruction sheet that I will include. The only bad spot of chrome is a very small area around the housing screw. This has been well taken care of. All is shown in the photos, and nothing is hidden. Both of the mounting brackets are complete but, the floating bracket needs a ... morenut and screw. The rubber in the floating bracket seems good. This was grounded by the mounting, so there is no ground wire, only the positive. This is a vintage Federal Sign& Signal Model CP25 fire truck horn.It is in used but good condition with most of it's chrome in good condition. Has a few specks but they should polish out. It has a tiny dent on one side. I was told it works but I have not tried it myself. It is a large heavy horn a little over ten inches long and a little over eight inches wide. VINTAGE U.S. NAVY SHIPS HORN FEDERAL SIGN AND SIGNAL MODEL IC/H4D3
This vintage Federal Sign and Signal Horn model IC/H4D3 was purchased by me second hand from a woman whos late husband collected all kinds of maritime antiques. This horn has a good size dent on it toward the base which I photoed and a few of the screws are missing. I couldn't find a whole lot about this model but I am sure someone could work this over and clean it up. Please feel free to ask questions and thank you for looking.
