This is a Dumore Tool Post Grinder for lathes with a swing of 8" to 11" It is a series 11 Model 8386. It is in exceptional condition and is about as close to new as you can get. The person that I purchased it from said that it was used one time. And it looks like it. There are a couple of minor scratches in the paint here and there, mostly from storage and handling. It comes with a basic accessory pack that contains a few stones, a spare belt, wrenches, guards, instruction booklet, lube oil, etc. I bought this thinking that I would use it on my machine. Dumore 5X-350 External Spindle for Series 57 Tool Post Grinders
This Dumore Spindle has badly worn bearings. And is not recommended for high speed or precision use. A bearing rebuild is necessary for anything other than casual use at low RPM. It does rotate with moderate friction, and I have run it at about 5000 RPM for a 10 minutes or so, with significant bearing noise. This is a good sample for someone who wants to experiment taking a spindle apart for rebuild. The threads on the wheel mounting end of the spindle are worn. But a standard 1/2" x 20 nut still engages. Spacers can be added to keep the nut on the healthy region of the threads. There is also wear to the smooth part of the shaft next to the threads, but 1/2 grind wheels still slip on and fit tight. I am a long time craigslist buyer and seller. But this is my first eBay listing. I'm starting with a low value item to establish my eBay ... morerating, before I attempt to sell the rest of my Dumore equipment. Very good condition Dumore Tool Post grinder for 9" to 20" swing lathes. Complete system that is ready to be put to use. This 3/4 HP Universal motor system is ideal for very high spindle RPM grinding applications. With it's very high speed motor. Motor runs at about 17.000 RPM unloaded. Elements that are not 100% perfect on this Dumore. See pictures for details: New systems from the factory come with more grind wheels. Power cord stain relief at motor was broken. Cord reinforced with electrical tape by me. It is in good condition under the tape. Belts are used. The green one in the picture is the worse. And has staple( holes in it. All work well. Grinder frame has a corner ground away by a previous owner. See picture. Still structurally sound. This system comes with a complete set of spindle inserts. Internal/External grinding ... moresystems that Dumore sells do not have the 3" 4" 5" 6" long spindle inserts. Each insert is $185 new! System runs smooth and quiet. I've test run it for over 30 minutes at maximum. Spindle RPM of 42.500 without issue. I have not tried grinding with it. High quality copy of owners manual. Dumore TX External Grinding Spindle Insert. Used to convert a 5T-200 or Type T insert spindle to external grinding. Can use external grind wheels from ~ 2" to 5" in diameter. 3/8" shaft for grind wheel mounting. You can add a 3/8" ID. 1/2" OD plastic sleeve, and use 1/2" shaft diameter wheels. I made cut one out of a length correct size plastic tubing. Which I'll include. Used when I mounted the 5" gray grind wheel. The small. White, used grind wheel is included. Dumore 1/2" external grinding insert for Dumore Series 57 5T-200 Spindles
This is a non-Dumore manufactured external grind wheel adapter. The extension length is 2" Which will prevent a wheel guard from being used. It has a 1/2" grind wheel shaft. With 1/2 x 16 coarse threads. This will fit either the 5T-200 Spindle or the Type"T" from older machines. I spun the tool. And there is a noticeable wobble to it. And is not fit for use in it's present condition. Perhaps a starting point for some special insert you want to custom make? For those of you watching my Dumore spindle and spindle insert postings.
