I have seen more than one person use these as a general purpose knife. Plane, chisel sharpener. They use them without the accessories to put fine edges on. I suppose you could use the right side wheel for putting chip breakers or tiny profiles in custom lathe bits and maybe grind spoon shaped chisels. Router bit sharpener? Maybe. The rectangle cut-out in the base could hold a tray for water. As smoothly as this operates and as nice as the stones are. I would imagine it works great as a tool sharpener. Perhaps it can be an economical alternative to a Tormek SuperGrind? You could probably also use it as an end mill sharpener(assuming your talents far exceed mine! Darex SP-2500 Drill sharpener, Nice condition
I do not need this machine anymore because I am downsizing my shop. It works flawlessly and all of the collets operate smoothly. This machine has a CBN wheel that does the actual sharpening of the drill bits. I have used it to sharpen bits from 1/8 to 7/8 with no problems. The manual is available on line for FREE. You merely have to download it. I also have an additional NEW. CBN wheel for making your bits 135 degrees as opposed to the 118 degrees that is currently on the machine. This machine will also split the point on the bits as well for increased performance and adding to the ability to not have the bit"walk" on you. This Darex drill sharpener is complete; it has three collett assemblies. The collets will accept drills up to 1 and 1/8" inches in diameter. The cutting wheels are diamond or Borazon. Not sure, there is a lot of life left in the cutting surfaces. I contacted Darex and they sent me the operating instructions through email, I will forward them to the winning bider if he or she desires. There is one small crack in the base of the housing, which is shown in the pictures, 5 and 6. This machine is in extremely good condition. The original lamp fixture is present and working. This is a Darex M-5 drill sharpening system mounted to a 115 volt 1/3 HP Black and Decker 6" grinder. With this drill sharpening system you can sharpen drills from 1/8 inch diameter to 1-1/8 inch diameter. Included are three chucks for the various size drills. Instructions included. You can sharpen drills to a condition equal to that of the manufacturer. I purchased this set up about fifteen years ago and used it nearly daily.every hole I drill is drilled with a New Like drill. I am selling it because I got a killer deal to upgrade to one of the gold colored Darex sharpeners that you will find on eBay. The set up does not include a"drill point splitter" I hand split the drill point with the wheel on the right side of the grinder. However. If you purchase this item keep you eye on eBay for the drill point splitter fixture that ... moreshows up once in a while. With this sharpening system you will hardly ever buy drills and the really big saving in time and money is being able to sharpen 1/2" and larger drills. In the photos you will see 1/4" 9/16" and 1-1/8" diameter drills held in the various size chucks.
