The clicker works just as it should forward winding or back reeling. It also has the no clicker option with the switch and spins easily. The handle is smooth with a good shine. The spool measures 2 1/8" in diameter. The outer cage measures 2 7/8" in diameter. The brass has a good looking patina to the metal it has not been polished in about 6 years and is darkening nicely. Vintage Pflueger Progress No 1774 brass fly reel wood handle nice clean
For auction is a very nice mid 1900's Pflueger Progress No. 1774 solid brass frame with aluminum spool fly reel. This model has the slide option between click and free spin and functions properly. This reel is very clean and an absolute joy to use. The brass is very shiny. It is difficult to capture in photographs, and the aluminum is in nice shape with a shine. The sound of the clicking while fighting a trout is a special sound. While these pair perfectly with bamboo rods, I have enjoyed using it with 4/5 weight modern rods, It may be appropriate for up to 6 weight. This reel has a total weight of 136 grams or 4.75 oz. Lot of 3 Vintage Skeleton Fly Reels, Pflueger Progress, Skilton's, Armax
This auction is for a lot of 3 early. Raised pillar, skeleton fly reels from the early 1900's. These is part of a lot of fly fishing gear that I inherited from my father, a life-long fisherman. My father inherited a number of old fishing items as a young man in the late 1950's or early 1960's and he never threw anything fishing-related away. All 3 of these reels are fully functional, have no play in the rivets and I'm quite confident that they could be fished with if one were inclined to do so. Either way, they would be a great addition to a collection of antique fly-fishing gear. My father had a display case hanging on the wall of his"fishing room" and these reels were part of the display. First up is a Pflueger Progress reel. It appears to be made of brass with a chromed spool and black wood handle. The reel body ... moreappears to have been colored either black or brown. Some of this color has been worn away-see photos. The spool is 2.125" in diameter. It is marked on the top of the seat. PFLUEGER TRADE(some sort of symbol I can't make out) MARK PROGRESS MADE IN U.S.A. And the number"60" underneath the seat. It works great, has a nice clicking sound and spins freely when the ratcheting mechanism is disengaged. There is no line on this reel. Next up is a Skilton's reel. It also appears to be made of brass that had once been black. There is little evidence of the black color except around the counter weight and on the upper part of the reel seat. It has a black wooden handle. The only markings are on the back of the body. SKILTON'S FISHING TACKLE. T.S. Skilton& Sons Fishing Tackle was a well-known supplier of fly-fishing gear in Connecticut starting in 1895. The spool is 2.25" in diameter and is wound with line and a green colored backing. The line looks in decent shape to me. But I've no idea when the last time this reel was used. Finally. We have an Armax reel, also in brass, with most of the blacking still present. Frame is solid brass. I think that spool is polished nickel plate. Both rubberoid handles are beautiful, as shown. 60" is stamped into bottom of feet. Pflueger, Bulldog trade mark, and PROGRESS, are stamped on top of the feet. NO RESERVE above opening. The line is very old and stiff. Probably has been there since Hitler was a corporal. Overall. Vintage Pflueger Progress Fly Reel, Small 2-3/8" dia
A vintage Pflueger Progress fly reel in good working condition. Small at 2-3/8" diameter. Reel is made in USA of steel. On-off click drag. There is the number"60" stamped on the bottom of the reel foot. About half to 3/4 full of old.048 dia line. At this small size. That will not be a lot of length. I did the burn test and it made black beads. So it would be synthetic and not silk. A sweet little reel. Fully functional. I was going to put it on a 4-weight rod for close work on our small eastern Oklahoma steams. But I can do that with any reel, and this little jewel belongs in someone's collection.

2 Vintage Pflueger Fly Fishing Reels: Medalist No.1495 & Progress No.1774
This auction is for a lot of 2 Vintage Pflueger fly fishing reels: a Medalist No.1495 and a Progress No.1774. Both reels are fully functional and in good condition. The Medalist is 4" in diameter. Has an aluminum alloy spool and frame, push button quick release spool, external drag system, and convertible left/right retrieve. It has some normal wear for something almost 75 years old; scuffing, scratches, and some pitting, but works well. The Progress is 3" in diameter, has an aluminum spool, and a gunmetal finish over a brass frame. The gunmetal finish is in great shape with very little sign of wear, and the reel works great. These reels are both highly collectible. I generally ship the day after payment is received. Thanks for viewing.

Straight spool(no rubs) strong click, pillared spool, knob spins freely, 60 yard size, bulldog stamp on foot, I am not about to polish it. I wiped it down with a rag and Windex. Some people don't like it and I am not sure it gets any more money for it cleaned up. The old fishing line is still on the reel is crusty and rotten. Again I wipe them down and take pictures. Up for bid is one( 1) PFLUEGER PROGRESS FLY FISHING REEL made of brass. This reel has the numbers 80 on the reel seat and seems to be in working order. The knob is made of wood and it is a pretty nice looking reel. I don't know alot about it other than it's been in the family home for over 40 years. It weighs just at 4 ounces. Except for a couple rub spots that you can see in the many photo's I have for you. Cosmetically it is in fine shape. I clean things before listing but they can always be detailed to shine much better than I have the time for. Mechanically the reel has a very strong clicker and the handle is in great shape. The only issue I find on this reel is. That as you wind it, it comes to a spot that has a slight catch. I do not see anything out of line, there are no dents or anything I can find to account for that. ... moreMaybe it needs cleaning inside or some oil. I should not think would not stop you from fishing with it, however I do wish to disclose all I find Reel is 3" diameter. 2 1/2" reel foot, spool width is 1" Maker is Enterprise Mfg. Co. of Akron Ohio. Condition is good. It has had very little use. The spool has the large drum so a lot of backing is not necessary. This Pflueger Fly Reel is a nice. Well cared for vintage piece. It has Three cross bars and then for the reel foot a heavy double cross bar. There are no bends. Dents, or gouges on the side plates. You can super size the photo's. The 50's came out with some very nice reels. This is a great collectible or working reel. Old Vintage Pflueger PROGRESS 60 YD Skeleton Fly Reel Wooden Knob Brass & NP
Nice old Pflueger Progress Raised Pillar Skeleton Fly Reel. Spins smoothly. Strong click. Wooden knob turns freely. Slight bend, wobble in spool that you cant really see until flick the knob and send the spool spinning fast. Nickel plated counter balanced spool. The only plating loss i see is a rub on the edge of the counter balance weight. Some brass peaking through the finish of the frame. Bull dog logo stamped into top of foot. 60 yard size.
